Even though your cpu is a bottle neck, but what graphics settings are you running?

I got a lesser graphics card than you but the 6000+ 3.1ghz cpu plus only 2gb 800mhz ram and i can spawn 100 AI and look at them close without any problems.

What settings do you run the game on?

Just the default High setting.

What's your view distance and exact settings?

What are the AI doing?

Spawning AIs in the editor doesn't do much to hurt my framerate,it goes down if they are engaged in firefights.

Look at this screenshot to see what I mean.I`m looking directly at ~40 units with 130 AI spawned in the editor and my framerate dropped 8 FPS from the 28-35 I`m usually getting. And look at my system specs to see how it's worse in every single way then yours.I don't get 5 FPS even if I edit huge firefights.

And view distance?I hope is not absurdly high.Windows XP?You are not noticing other unusual slow downs in any other games?Lowering graphical options is not helpful? What framerates are you getting from the official demo missions?

Lowering terrain and object detail to normal and disabling anti aliasing helped me nudge the gameplay from slightly laggy to very playable.

I've tried changing the graphics settings in every way except changing resolution. I am running Windows 7 RC 64-bit. I think it's my processor though because it happens even when I'm not looking at the AI units. It's just stuttering and skipping frames. I don't understand why this game needs more than a 2.4Ghz dual core to run properly though. Also I can run Crysis on all high settings with like 30+ FPS just fine. All other games perform just fine.

Well my CPU is clocked at 1,98 Ghz and it's the server variant of the same generation of AMD cpus.Windows 7 RC affects your framerate without a doubt but that still doesn't explain why it's unplayable.

Try the benchmark mission. With your system you should be getting less then my 25 FPS average with the settings I've posted in that screenshot-you have double the ram at higher speed,a faster GPU and faster CPU.If you do it's either Windows 7 or some other problem with your system configuration

Hi all

I have a broadly similar system to you.

2.50 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core

Radeon X1950 Pro

2Gb Ram

It runs fine with the exception of one of the cities. The one with all the factories.

Not surpisingly ArmA II actualy runs better for me in MP as the Server is taking most of the AI entity load. :)

Anyhow Solutions

Check your Resolution and Set it to the one that says 100% next to it. Set your View Distance to 1600 or so. Turn Post Processing to Low then Disabled. (Post Processing resets every time which is very anoying but I hope next patch fixes that one)

Kind Regards walker

It's just stuttering and skipping frames.

Do you have any disc activity during this? Maybe it's having to read textures a lot or something else that's resulting in a lot of disc activity? I know a couple of people have said that defragmenting their hard drive improved game performance dramatically. I would think it'd only be pathological cases but still - might be worth checking out just in case.

Same problem on my i7 920 at 2.67 ghz :( But hopefully that is a specific i7 problem with the game, and not a actual bottleneck. Otherwise something is horribly wrong with this game.
