ralphwiggum 6 Posted March 17, 2002 the length of runway at Malden is about 1.4km. I say it's pretty close to what they need at real life.(AFAIK 1.5km)
Darkhawk 0 Posted March 17, 2002 The Aircraft that were around in 1985 and that could land in a small place would be the following: DC-3 AN-2 Colt AN-24 Coke An-72 (just comming into service around 1980) Il-14 Crate LET L-410 Turbolet DHC-3 Otter DHC-4/C-7A(U.S. ID)(could hold up to 32 troops) DHC-5 Buffalo(C-8A) Transall C.160 The C-130 would be able to make short take-offs with rocket pods and short landings with chutes. I even think there was a plan to land in a football stadium once to evacuate some people!

Wadi 0 Posted March 17, 2002 Instead of just talking about plane transports, can somebody try and make one please? I would but I don't have a clue how to.

arkadeyevich 0 Posted March 17, 2002 I think the An-28 should be added for the russian side. It is ideal as a jumpship (have done 23 jumps from one) because it can take 20 skydivers (12-15 soldiers with equipment) to altitude in a short time from a short and rugged airstrip. It also has a tailgate for easy exit. An-

Konyak-2 0 Posted March 18, 2002 The Hercules is definately the right plane for this game, but if IT has a problem or needs a lift, then look no further  More shots here: Shots of the ramps unfolding Unloading a BMP Konyak
Shrikey 0 Posted March 18, 2002 umm thats a C47 Glaxacy. not a C130 Hercules the Herc got a rear loading ramp and is smaller so at least its handlerable on the uber small strips in OPFP
Konyak-2 0 Posted March 18, 2002 Read the post. I was joking that this plane could transport the C-130 itself Besides, it's not a C-5 Galaxy. It´s the awesome Antonov-124. Bigger than the Galaxy, and russian. I didn't model it to make it practical, I made it for the sheer rush of seeing something so mammoth sitting on the runway, or seeing it fly by in OFP. Shrikey 0 Posted March 18, 2002 lol from that angle it looked like a C5.. and i messed up the classification so what ? i got the name right what are you planning ? paracute deploying BMP's ?
Konyak-2 0 Posted March 18, 2002 My plan? Well, I'm really thinking about the not to distant future here. With everything going commercial, advertising space in computer games has already started. This plane will simply be the most valuable moving billboard in OFP Right now I'm in talks with NVidia to sell advertising space for the new GeForce 4 on it. Nike has also shown interest.. So has Smith & Wesson I'll be rich, rich rrrrrRRRRICH! J/K, don't worry Konyak
DodgeME 0 Posted March 18, 2002 It would be amazing to see such big units in the game. Imagine seing a C-130 or that other Russian air transports flying! It would be amazing
Shrikey 0 Posted March 18, 2002 id rather like to see it come in very low and deploy a APC with a paracute behind as a speed brake.. and then turn around to drop a unit of infantry and some crew in regular Parashutes

BMD-1 BMD-2 (BMD-1 with new 30mm turret) BMD-3 (with BMP-2 turret) BMD M1979 Command Vehicle/BTR-D Airborne APC And the ASU-85 airborne assault gun Three BMDs may be carried by IL-76M transport aircraft. I think six can be carried by the AN-124 and ten by the even bigger AN-225. Additionally, one BMD can be carried by Mi-8/17s (I think) and two by the world's largest helicopter - the Mi-26 Halo. The An-12 and An-22 transport aircraft can also carry two as well. All airplanes can parachute the vehicles with the crew inside.
Shrikey 0 Posted March 19, 2002 Hellfish6 : i wherent kiddin when i said it. thought those planes will make a niice big tempting target for little john Doe and his Stinger AA Missile launcher
Wadi 0 Posted March 19, 2002 I think that when you drive up behind a herc in a tank or car, you should have the option "get in Hercules ride in back." It should also work for in the Mission Editor if you have a herc and a tank in the same group and you select "in cargo" for the tank.
