Plane transport needed!

Recommended Posts

the length of runway at Malden is about 1.4km. I say it's pretty close to what they need at real life.(AFAIK 1.5km)

The Aircraft that were around in 1985 and that could land in a small place would be the following:

DC-3

AN-2 Colt

AN-24 Coke

An-72 (just comming into service around 1980)

Il-14 Crate

LET L-410 Turbolet

DHC-3 Otter

DHC-4/C-7A(U.S. ID)(could hold up to 32 troops)

DHC-5 Buffalo(C-8A)

Transall C.160

The C-130 would be able to make short take-offs with rocket pods and short landings with chutes. I even think there was a plan to land in a football stadium once to evacuate some people!

Instead of just talking about plane transports, can somebody try and make one please?

I would but I don't have a clue how to.

Nightlead MOD are working on the AC-130 gunship, of they get it imported to the game, I'm pretty sure a transport version could be made.

I think the An-28 should be added for the russian side.

It is ideal as a jumpship (have done 23 jumps from one) because it can take 20 skydivers (12-15 soldiers with equipment) to altitude in a short time from a short and rugged airstrip. It also has a tailgate for easy exit.

An-28

umm thats a C47 Glaxacy. not a C130 Hercules smile.gif

the Herc got a rear loading ramp and is smaller so at least its handlerable on the uber small strips in OPFP

Read the post. I was joking that this plane could transport the C-130 itself smile.gif Besides, it's not a C-5 Galaxy. It´s the awesome Antonov-124. Bigger than the Galaxy, and russian. I didn't model it to make it practical, I made it for the sheer rush of seeing something so mammoth sitting on the runway, or seeing it fly by in OFP. tounge.gif

My plan? Well, I'm really thinking about the not to distant future here. With everything going commercial, advertising space in computer games has already started. This plane will simply be the most valuable moving billboard in OFP biggrin.gif Right now I'm in talks with NVidia to sell advertising space for the new GeForce 4 on it. Nike has also shown interest.. So has Smith & Wesson biggrin.gif I'll be rich, rich rrrrrRRRRICH!

J/K, don't worry smile.gif

First the infantry would parachute out then the apc will follow because by the time the c-130 reaches drop altitude the enemy would have there APC and blowing them out of the sky sad.gif

Actually, the Russians have airborne versions of the BMP called the BMD.

BMD-1

bmd-1.gif

BMD-2 (BMD-1 with new 30mm turret)

Image122.gif

BMD-3 (with BMP-2 turret)

bmd-3-line-s.gif

BMD M1979 Command Vehicle/BTR-D Airborne APC

bmd-2.gif

btr-d-line-s.gif

And the ASU-85 airborne assault gun

asu-85-dnst8611169_jpg-s.jpg

Three BMDs may be carried by IL-76M transport aircraft. I think six can be carried by the AN-124 and ten by the even bigger AN-225. Additionally, one BMD can be carried by Mi-8/17s (I think) and two by the world's largest helicopter - the Mi-26 Halo. The An-12 and An-22 transport aircraft can also carry two as well. All airplanes can parachute the vehicles with the crew inside.

I think that when you drive up behind a herc in a tank or car, you should have the option "get in Hercules ride in back." It should also work for in the Mission Editor if you have a herc and a tank in the same group and you select "in cargo" for the tank.

So, does anybody know where and when this gunship could be made into a transport?
