edworld 10 Posted June 23, 2009 In a further game Patch could be nice and very useful introduce a satellite shot (pictures). I mean the player can request to receive a picture from the satellite where see the enemy position. The pics from the sky and information in attach could taken several minutes before to be available.. The Intelligent could take minutes to delivery these information in order the distance from Unitis to field-Headquarter.
Andi 10 Posted June 23, 2009 Interesting idea, but (if I understand you correctly) this would mean the whole game has to be recorded and then the sat pics would show the relevant area in a state several minutes before "requesting time". It might be better to take a screenshot of the relevant area when requested and shown several minutes later due to delay, delivery etc. Since the game wouldn't have to be recorded, this would be a better solution imho. But anyways, in Benny's Warfare (ArmA1) there was the SatCam where you could spectate the whole island, zoomable and in realtime. :D
Alex72 1 Posted June 23, 2009 Excist in ArmA1 addons. Coming later im sure. You had like a bag with computer inside (satellite) and then you could use it to look and order in missiles etc. Alex
edworld 10 Posted June 23, 2009 You understand me. However when I wrote "several minutes" I mean the timing necessary to delivery the picture/information. It is not believable to receive the information immediately after the request. The realtime SatCam in nice and reflect a real Command Room, but troops in field cannot see it. As reality the player can request a specific area screenshot also entire island. Obvious the quality of the images and information decline in order of size-area requested. The software can take a picture after player request. I don't think necessary recordering the entire playing.
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted June 23, 2009 Don't know about satelite coverage. In Arma1 you can't simulate the ortogonal view from a satelite because the distance required means that objects won't get drawn. Weather had little impact etc. I'd much more have the ACE HuntIR system available by default. Don't get me wrong. I like the idea of a commander having a good overview, even automatic positional feeds to onboard vehicle laptops ('magic' markers of own troops). But not too easy if we only get the benefits and not the drawbacks.
edworld 10 Posted June 23, 2009 (edited) Yes, my suggestion doesn't give a real impact on gaming: I think it is only an option to improve the simulation. A picture of the field delivered after some minutes, in a game, not give any advantage. I know. Edited June 24, 2009 by edworld
