Black Screen flashing 'Receiving...' Multiplayer

Recommended Posts

After loading in to a mission in multiplayer (evo, coop, dom) after about 15 seconds of running around usually, I get a black screen saying 'Receiving...'. This screen does not go away and the word 'Receiving' begins to flash jerkily.

This does not happen in Single Player.

I have...

Vista Home 64bit

Nvidia GTX 285 1g,

6 Gig Ram,

22 Inch monitor.

ArmA 2 patched up to 1.02

I have the latest drivers and windows updates. My PC is BRAND NEW.

Can anyone help?

Where are the forum moderators?

We have at least 4 threads open dealing with this "Receiving..." issue. Usually every nonsense is judged, closed, merged, but you can not act when it is really necessary?

Could you PLEASE merge all those into a single and maybe make it sticky in the troubleshooting area?

Oh, and maybe code something that heals this:D

@Gecko: Delete ArmA.rpt, start ArmA2 until the 1st "receiving....", close ArmA 2 and post the content here.

I could have chosen to post a reply in an existing thread - however this problem is actually different to the ones i have read about in the first 5 pages of this forum, which is why I instead chose to make a new post for a new problem.

But I fixed it I think - I needed Service Pack 1 for vista

This screen does not go away and the word 'Receiving' begins to flash jerkily.

I have exactly the same, upgrade to NVIDIA 190.15 and later made it more seldom.

If I understood the few words Suma dropped in another thread correctly, this is intended to deal with memory problems.

In my case, if I do nothing, it would flash forever. When I tab to map and back it is ok for a while. I do not know what I trigger when I go to map view and back, but obviously it solves the actual situation.

Closing demo threads WITHOUT request is obviously more fun then merging threads ON REQUEST.

at least 2 of the receiving bug threads have the solution in them, but since everyone keeps missing it.

Here's the solution for the full version of the game:

The receiving bug occurs in an older version of the 1.02 patch, prior to the hotfix. Download the latest patch from www.arma2.com and install it (you may need to uninstall and reinstall the game first, some say you don't but I had to.

If that doesn't work then you may have to wait til the next patch.

As for the demo, well, can't help you there. If you're getting the bug then maybe they'll patch the demo... maybe not.

So I've been out of the game for a while, and recently decided to pick it up again. On my organization's dedicated server we're running 1.05, ACE 2, and Benny's. No one else seems to have this issue.

I used to play Vanilla 1.02 - 1.04 + Benny's on 1024x768 with med-high settings and view distance at about 6k and never had this issue. Now I can't play 2 minutes with everything on low without getting this problem. Sometimes it happens when I go to map, sometimes changing position in a vehicle, sometimes when I'm just standing still.

I've tried EVERYTHING suggested except for reinstalling my OS which isn't an option. I've tried messing with the settings, messing with ArmA2.cfg, messing with name.ArmA2Profile, clean re-install of the game (with complete registry clean). 60Hz refresh, 75Hz refresh, fresh drivers, one video card, two video cards (CrossFireX), fresh DirectX. I'm really at a loss. Any help is appreciated.

Specs:

AMD Brisbane 6000+ (Dual)

ATI Radeon HD 3650 w/512MB x2 in CrossFireX (10.6 CCC and CrossFireX)

4GB RAM

Windows XP 32-bit

Viewsonic 19" LCD

Well, seems to be that 1.05 doesn't like CrossFireX on my cards with 10.6 drivers. Hopefully new drivers or patch will resolve. Still getting object/geometry artifacting on any settings with either card solo. Easy enough to fix in-game though, just go to video and bump the vid mem up or down until it happens again.
