Typheus 10 Posted June 17, 2009 One of my favorite things to do in GTA4 was basically screw around, or shoot a bunch of dudes, and then take all the scenes, use an in-game scene editor, and pretty much make a movie out of it. Can we expect anything like camera controls for the purpose of recording smoothly. I only ask because it seemed like people were able to switch to the views of AI in some youtube videos. frederf 0 Posted June 17, 2009 ArmA1 and 2 have the ability to switch characters mid-mission. Pressing the "Team member select" command (T I think) it slows time to a crawl and lets you pick any character marked "Playable" in the editor. As for movie making, there should be some good camera scripts either already or soon.
Praelium 0 Posted June 17, 2009 Well, the first Arma had a camera, but it had to be configured within the mission and was real time. Perhaps someone will make a mod for Arma II so the gameplay can be recorded and later edited, if possible.
Typheus 10 Posted June 17, 2009 I don't know about that. They'd have to be one INSANELY good modder to make it so that you could record the character actions in a scene so you could go in later and zoom and move the camera around. I mean...wow. But, in the off chance that it DOES happen, it will probably have the most machinima videos of anything on youtube. :P
Praelium 0 Posted June 17, 2009 Well, I said if possible. ;) Maybe if you ask BIS nicely they'll include it in a patch. :)
Zipper5 74 Posted June 17, 2009 Well there's no in-game video editor, and there's no ability to save exactly what happened and then play it back from different angles while recording it. There is, however, an in-built camera tool designed by BIS to help them make cutscenes. Place a unit on the map and type into his initialization field: this exec "camera.sqs" This will put you into the camera.sqs view upon previewing the mission. You can assign the controls you wish to use for it under Bulldozer controls in the Controls options, provided ArmA II still has such a thing.
Typheus 10 Posted June 17, 2009 So basically, I can use a dummy unit to spawn myself as a camera, and then design pre-determined paths that the camera will follow when I start the scene up?
aus_twisted 0 Posted June 17, 2009 ArmA2 needs something like the After Action Review VBS module, would be great to have for MP battles
lapa 1 Posted June 17, 2009 ArmA2 needs something like the After Action Review VBS module, would be great to have for MP battles That would be great. It would be also quite useful for SP and studying AI behaviour. At least it would provide precise info on whether the AI "sees" through walls and whatnot :p
