fred5612 10 Posted June 11, 2009 Hello to all, I am new in thsi forum. After long pondering I am about to buy ArmA 2 but i have some questions to ask. I managed to answer nearly all my questions by searching, these are the last minor details I couldnt find out. Animations Are there animations for soldiers entering and exiting vehicles/mounted guns or is it the old appear/disappear thing? Are there animations for soldiers moving around in a turret or is it the old stiff rotating soldier thing? Gameplay Is everything destructable? Can I plow through a house or will a roadsign stop a tank? (Lol noobish question, probably on the webiste if I searched more) If first option: How good is the destructability, overall, graphics, physics etc? Does fire propagate? Do destroyed vehicles all look the same? Thanks to all.
odjob 0 Posted June 11, 2009 Anims for entering/exiting are "improved" over Arma1.. Anims in turret? nope same as Arma1 Tanks plow down nearly anything exept houses and other "hard/heavy" objects. Roadsigns/trees/fences and the like are all "plowable" Houses (atleast some) are destructable in several stages. Graphics (imho) very good. (Depends on computer though) Fire does not propagate. Do destroyed vehicles all look the same? hmm not sure what you mean but you can shoot tires in stages, shoot out windows etc. When completely destroyed they look burnt out. Meek 10 Posted June 11, 2009 Animations Animations that are frequently used look very nice, but less-commonly used ones look worse. Are there animations for soldiers entering and exiting vehicles/mounted guns or is it the old appear/disappear thing? Both, there are animations, but it is still fairly appear/disappear. Are there animations for soldiers moving around in a turret or is it the old stiff rotating soldier thing? Yeah, it is stiff, in the choppers, the soldier doesn't move at all. Gameplay Gameplay is nice, but it definitely won't appeal to everyone, the gameplay is very different from other FPSes, so if you were expecting CoD, you will be disappointed, but if you were getting tired of all those doom-clones, then perhaps this is the game for you. Is everything destructable? Can I plow through a house or will a roadsign stop a tank? Not everything is destructible, but a lot of things are, trees, signs, fences, walls, and buildings (although those take a lot of force to bring down). How good is the destructability, overall, graphics, physics etc? It's not as good as I would like it to be, things have an animation when they get destroyed and the graphics is not that good (although sound, graphics of an explosion used to bring it down are), but destroying things isn't a common occurrence so considering the infrequentness, it has a lot of detail. Does fire propagate?Only to via, and to things that: explode. So an exploding jeep would set nearby vehicles on fire, and then they will explode, and so on. Remember: this game is attempting to be realistic, it is also not set in Africa. Although explosions on grass destroy grass around the explosion.Do destroyed vehicles all look the same?I am not sure, but vehicles are not spammed like in games such as Empires, so this is less of a problem. Aircraft crashes look really nice.ArmA2 favors realism and functionality over aesthetics.
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted June 11, 2009 Fire does not propagate, nor is incendiary effects modelled. Not even heat from what I've seen in the videos. People can still stand next to a burning wreck or jump into the flames of a campfire without taking damage. Which makes me wonder, how does white phosphorous work in the game if it has no incendiary, anti material or anti personell properties?
fred5612 10 Posted June 11, 2009 Hmm i hope there will be some mods to add some more realism to the aniamtions in the game.appear/disappears and rotate/floating are like my pet peeves.
