Vir 0 Posted December 3, 2001 I downloaded 1.30 patch from 3 different sites, and unzip it using PKunzip, and the application just wont run. after trying several times, i downloaded 1.29, that installed fine, and i retried to install 1.30 and the application still will not run. my mouse curser turns into an hourglass for just a second, but nothing happens. ive also rebooted many times and retried
Vir 0 Posted December 3, 2001 i should mention its the ultimate upgrade, not the patch itself, and im using an athlon 700 with win98 se (Edited by Vir at 12:31 pm on Dec. 3, 2001)
theavonlady 2 Posted December 3, 2001 Slow down. First of all, if you upgraded from 1.29 to 1.30, you don't have a clean install. Second, does the OFP lanner logo appear when you start OFP? Third, have you browsed through The FAQ's INSTALLATION and TROUBLESHOOTING sections?
Vir 0 Posted December 3, 2001 first of all, i tried to install from 1.20 i think it is, i have the american version, THEN i tried 1.29. second and third, yes. its not that the patch is giving me an error, the application(exefile) just will not run. theavonlady 2 Posted December 3, 2001 If you search The FAQ for "ofp logo", the first 2 items listed are symptomatic of your problem. Does either help?
theavonlady 2 Posted December 3, 2001 Also, going from 1.29 to 1.30 is not a clean upgrade. While some people might be able to live with this, the results are unpredictable. Should you decide to reinstall from scratch, search The FAQ for "reinstall".
Vir 0 Posted December 3, 2001 No... you misunderstand... OFP is NOT the problem, and your faq doesnt list this... its the patch itself, i unzip it, but i cant run the exe file. it just doesnt do anything. i dont need a 'clean install' and reinstalling OFP doesnt do anything
theavonlady 2 Posted December 3, 2001 What's the URL from where you Dl'ed the patch? Is it a BIS or CM recommended site?
Vir 0 Posted December 4, 2001 i dled it from www.flashpoint1985.com and a mirror on that site

If the logo displays, then this might be similar to the two FAQ items I refered you to earlier. Just a hunch.

tlx 0 Posted December 4, 2001 Yep, Ultimate Upgrade 3 is copy-protected. So put in your *Original-CD*.
Vir 0 Posted December 4, 2001 i have the *original cd* in, ive downloaded the patch 3 times from 2 different sites, and thats a chore seeing as i have a 56k. it took me 4+ hours each time. ive wasted a lot of time to get this patch... and now it doesnt work... wth i got the 2.9 patch and it installed just fine
tlx 0 Posted December 5, 2001 There *seem* to be issues when applying the 1.30 patch and Safedisc not recognizing the CD as reported a couple of times. Since i never had problems updating with my drive (Pioneer DVD) I was unaware of these. Anyway most posts sounded like ways to copy the game and did not even mention "original cd" or "can't get my recently purchased copy updated". To all legal customers: I apologize (Edited by tlx at 2:35 am on Dec. 5, 2001)
