SD_BOB 10 Posted May 25, 2009 Hey guys, i know similiar questions have been asked before. But how exactly do AV-8 pilots in the ArmA world lock up the LD targets. Before i go on, let me just say i'm not new to ArmA/OFP been playin since 2001. Nor am i a bad pilot. Obviously the "correct" way, is to recieve your LD target from the ground lase. This is all fine, i see the laser target on my radar. Now appart from a couple of lucky times when i have actually got the lock, i just cannot get the radar system to lock on. I have tried approaching the target from all directions, high altittude distant runs, so that only the only red LD target is on my radar. But the things just wont lock up, does anyone have any ideas? I think its just the "aquisition area" in front of the harrier it too pin point, not allowing any deviation from the target to aquire a lock. When you approaching from such distance and altittude, it just isn't cricket. Again any help or tips from a pilot who can use the current system would be greatly appreciated. As you can imagine its annoying having people on the ground asking for air support, only to be sat with ordinance on the pylons unable to do anything. Well rantish type post over... Thanks in advance for any help.
celery 8 Posted May 25, 2009 Have you tried pressing TAB?
SD_BOB 10 Posted May 25, 2009 Yes, as i said i understand how it is suppost to work. I have lock/reveal target etc on mapped onto my joystick to lock up target, that isnt the issue. They just seem to be very fussy about locking up.
celery 8 Posted May 25, 2009 Assuming that you have "next target" (or similar) bound to your tabulator key, it should lock on quite easily. It acquires targets at a broader scope than lock target.
Simon C 0 Posted May 25, 2009 Yes, lock/reveal target (normally right mouse button) is not the same as next target (TAB). Next target is the one to press.

franze 196 Posted May 27, 2009 Make sure the LGBs are selected when locking the target, too.
