jamesm_007 0 Posted March 6, 2002 I don't know if anyone has noticed, but since 1.45 and 1.46, joystick buttons no longer work when assigned to regular things such as move up and move down (for the helicopter) and fast forward (for the jets). This is really annoying, because i used to be able to use the two buttons on my joystick to move up and down as i flew, now they don't do a thing exept for starting the engine =( I dont have throttle lever on my joystick either, so i have to revert to the q and z buttons to move up and down in the heli and the e button for throttle on the jet. Is it possible that that this could be fixed in the next release? THX James
cactus 0 Posted March 6, 2002 And your brand of joystick was.... ? And your running which OS? A little more informations is needed here. I have a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback and the buttons works perfectly well there. Just have to relearn how to fly with the throttle

R. Gerschwarzenge 0 Posted March 6, 2002 No they don't.
Gorgi Knootewoot 0 Posted March 6, 2002 I use the "A" key for forward and "shift+A" or "q" for fast forward. When flying a jet, let's say the A10, it fly's 600 at maximum speed when i hold the forward key. When i press the fast forward key, it doesn't go any faster. So they have one speed. When you fly, let's say 367, and let go of the forward key the jet will stay at that speed. Unless you make a turn, as is slows you down. (or when u climb)
R. Gerschwarzenge 0 Posted March 6, 2002 I meant that it accelerates faster when you press the fast forward key.
Gorgi Knootewoot 0 Posted March 6, 2002 That explains why i sometimes have problem taking off with the A10 LGB. I always need the complete runway to take off. But you should see me in the air, i am the best OFP pilot available
jamesm_007 0 Posted March 6, 2002 extra info: i have a regular 2 axis 4 button joystick which used to work properly in ofp (and still does in other games), but since the latest update, the buttons dont appear to work correctly. the game still detects them because if i press them once, it will for example start the engine on the heli. if i hold down the q button, the game is constantly getting messages from the keyboard to go up, but with the j/stick, i push and hold one of the buttons to make the heli go up but its as if the game cannot accept the j/stick button as being held down. it only picks up the pushing down of the button, not the holding of it. i have a feeling this occured because of the joystick adjustments that were made in the latest upgrades: "improved simulation of helicopters, planes and improved joystick support"
Gorgi Knootewoot 0 Posted March 6, 2002 I never used the joystick in OFP. I do everything with keyboard and mouse. I use a standard configuration for every first-person shooter. It was a configuration that was used in the 3D-shooter Future shock. I wanted a configuration where i could use my left hand to do everything, and using my right hand on the mouse to shoot and aim. I adjusted the configuration so that i have optimal control. It made me the badass deathmatcher that i am today, together with days of practise. Sometimes i played 8 hours non-stop Quake over the net. Always in the top three i was. Those were the days. Playing Quake, Team Fortress Classic, and other classic shooters. *sniff*
