How to change civies to east without literally changing them to east soldiers?...

Ok I need to do one simple thing. I armed a bunch of civies and want them as the enemy to bluefor. To do this i switched it in the sqm and all was well... untill I tried to do anything in the mission. As soon as I tried to group them together or rotate their starting pos they would turn into Opfor soldiers, which ruins the whole thing. So does anyone know how to fix this because I'm fresh out of ideas..

well.. you can do it by changing the sides with the option in the box where you edit the date and time! now with doing this you will make the racs against you! but it still works, just set friendly side to none or opfor..i think! good luck, and im sure someone will give a better way to do this..so just hang on and wait, but what i said will work for now! good luck!

P.S. Also ill help you out if this dont work, or if nothing better shows up in a day or so ill find a better way of changing the civilian side against you!

Last time i did this i did what you did, but just before i finished the mission i changed there side in the mission.sqm file, any changes seemed to change them back, as long as you don't make any changes to them after they have been changed in the mission.sqm it should be fine.

There will be better ways than that no doubt though, I cant say i actually spent much time trying it.

You don't need to edit the mission.sqm manually (though that is what I always do).

Add an OPFOR soldier to their group, even if it's only one unit. Make sure the OPFOR unit has a higher rank than the civilian so it becomes the leader. Then set the "probably of presence" for the OPFOR unit to 0.

If you want to go with the mission.sqm modifikation you need to wait with editing it until you made all settings to the units as Guru Bear said.
