Akira 0 Posted March 5, 2002 I put in a whole bunch of add-ons last night, and now when ever the game tries to load I get this error: No entry 'config.bin/CFG*insertaddonname*' Clearly its add on related. Just sometimes I can't tell WHICH add on. WHat causes this error? Is it a missing "config.cpp" file? Also A lot of add ons come with "config.cpp" files....do those go in the add-on folder as well? How can install add-ons without overwriting another "config.cpp"? can I keep cutting and pasting into one "config.cpp", essentially making one really long "config.cpp" for the add ons that need it? Any help would be appreciated.
ALDEGA 0 Posted March 5, 2002 Addon makers need to make entrie(s) for their addon into a config.cpp which should go in the addon .pbo file, along with any other files (e.g. textures). The only reason when you should encounter the noconfig entry error, is when you start a mission which is using an addon which is not present on your system. I don't know why it happens right after OF launches though :-| Are you sure it's when OF launches or when a mission starts?
Akira 0 Posted March 5, 2002 I get the above error when the game starts. It will go through the "Codemasters" screen, and then BIS screen (or vice versa....whichever), and sometimes the legal screen (copying and all that) and then crash to desktop with a window saying the above error. Sometimes the error happens just after the second logo screen....sometimes right after the legal screen. It was different for each error. Basically, I got it the first time...was able to locate the corresponding .pbo file and erased it. Re started and got the same error with a different addon weapon or file. Erased that one, restarted and got the same error with a different weapon/addon file. So basically I don't need to even worry about the "config.cpp" file....is it more there for my information as to what the .pbo file contains?
Chris Death 0 Posted March 5, 2002 This could be occured, by having installed an addon, which requires another addon to be installed too. For example: DWRnamsoldier.pbo requires M16scope.pbo to be installed, or the game would crash directly after starting it. So best you can do is, notice the weapon/unit, you got from the error message, and have a look into the readme file, which you probably got by downloading this addon. If there's no readme file present - then better remove it instead of getting troubles again.
Akira 0 Posted March 5, 2002 What I was afraid of. I'll probably just end up doing a complete reinstall (since i got red hammer too now), especially since I added some 313MB of addons  Then I'll just reinstall addons one at a time....making sure to check each....good thing I ain't got a life.... What about the config.cpp files? Should I ignore them and use them for reference only since they are, as I understand it, incorporated into the .pbo files?
