Bars 0 Posted February 20, 2009 Hi guys, just reinstalled ARMA with the latest patch 1.14. After few minutes in the game, i get these "artifacts": Textures start flickering, until everything disappears - then i have to alt-tab or change some settings in video options, and its playable again for some time until it happens again. Had 2 BSOD while alt-tabbing. Never had any problems like this one in the past. I'm not sure if its the patch or something else. I'm running: AMD Athlon 64 3500+ WinXP 32 SP3 Ati HD4850 512 Mb 9.1 Catalyst Every other game works perfect, i have this issue only with ARMA. Thank you in advance for your help! Infam0us 10 Posted February 21, 2009 Temps? Different Drivers? Enable V-Sync? I get this issue unless I get the previous 3 correct
jackass888 0 Posted February 21, 2009 Had the exact same problem. Too bad topic is deleted already. Actually i think i still have that problem... it was only solved by installing a 64bit(xp) OS and the chaos dissappeared. My guess its some complicated software-hardware conflict. I replaced almost every component of my pc before trying a new OS. So hardware-wise it could only be related to MB or CPU. Did you change anything on your PC before that started happening? Do you have also sound errors and lag when that occurs(try fling a plane over sahrani)?
Bars 0 Posted February 21, 2009 Hi, my card and CPU temps are in the limits. 4850 cards are a bit hot by default, but i've never ever had any problems in other applications - Crysis, GTA4 etc. V-Sync is always turned off from the CCC /Catalyst Suite/. I haven't changed anything for some time, and as i said - i've played the game before without troubles, this was few months ago - the only thing changed since then, are the video drivers. I moved from 8.x to 9.1 @jackass888: Yes, i got a bit of lag, before this flickering starts - then i go to video options /menu is not affected/ and change anti-aliasing or postprocessing, video updates and game is fixed for few more minutes, then it starts again. I've tried to alt-tab yesterday, at first it was fixed, but on my second attempt i got BSOD with error in some ati***.dll file. May be is a good idea to roll back the drivers, and see if its drivers related or not. Thank you for your time, guys, much appreciated!
Bars 0 Posted February 21, 2009 Ok, problem fixed. What i did: 1. Uninstalled Catalyst 9.1 drivers 2. Restarted in safe mode, cleaned all remaining files/entries in the registry using DriverCleaner 3. Installed new Catalyst 9.2 Game runs perfect now, no issues whatsoever. Hope this helps if someone else have same issues. It was either drivers /9.1/ or me, because i installed 9.1 over old 8.9.

Doing that is just asking for problems.
