stonesour767 0 Posted December 29, 2008 I'm using a Creative X-FI Titanium for arma and i want to know what the best settings are for this card. Settings wise i mean things such as CMSS-3D settings for my 5.1 headset and whether i should use hardware acceleration and EAX, although hardware acceleration makes it sound worse and EAX limits my hearing distance. Maddmatt 1 Posted December 29, 2008 I play with hardware acceleration and EAX. Also make sure to set the card to Game Mode before starting ArmA. I have stereo headphones so I use CMSS3D, which does a damn good job at simulating surround sound. You have a 5.1 headset, so I guess that is set up like a 5.1 speaker system would be. And a good sound mod like HiFi helps, search the addon section
stonesour767 0 Posted December 29, 2008 i use vosm or vopm or what ever its called, and all the sounds are really metallic. ill give HiFi a go seen as its a good sound mod. what about EAX, is that any good on HiFi?
Maddmatt 1 Posted December 29, 2008 I haven't compared with and without EAX. HiFi sounds great to me. There are some others like Chammy's and the FDF mod has its own sounds. There is also the ACE mod with some unique sound effects
stonesour767 0 Posted December 29, 2008 EAX on makes it sound terrible oddly enough. makes distant sounds not audible. and due to my card i can hear things that are miles away.
Infam0us 10 Posted December 30, 2008 I use Entertainment Mode, Â Headphones. Gamer mode just makes my headset quieter and selecting 5.1 Mode seems to stop the actual 5.1 from working Although tbh you should just test it yourself and see what works best, its different for everyone. kklownboy 43 Posted December 30, 2008 there is a setting for the loudness of the eax effects, set it much lower, like -28, then the far away sounds wont be like close sounds...EAX is better to me on.
stonesour767 0 Posted December 30, 2008 id prefer to be able to hear the further away sounds but quieter or, say when you actually see them then you can hear them. but ill give the EAX settings a tweak, didnt actually think of that. I get absolutely no difference with the EAX effects minused or plused, well none that i can actually hear.
