***LeGeND K1LLER*** 0 Posted October 23, 2008 hi all, glad to have joined this legendary forum  . i am come here mostly to expose  a suggestion concerning the leaning option. im pretty bored about how arma has implemented the opportunity to leaning : the movement( by pressing Q or E) is to much fast and direct, is not realistic at all and has bad conseguences in how the people plays: i've see some players during a close 1vs 1 to leaning without any kind of cover just to avoid the enemy fire coming from an enemy in  front of him...is pretty lame, also makes the soldiers like they have springs on their flanks...ist not nice at all. so for me the best solution i would to see in arma 2 is to add a key on the game which you press it you activate this option ,so now you have just to move your mouse left or right and you will start, GRADUALLY, to leaning(and of course you have to be able to shoot during this action), and when you want to deactivate this option you have to re-press the same key you have used to activate it. to give an example is the same way adopted in rainbowsix ravenshield, and it works magnificently. another solution can be to leaning by using the Q or E but the movement should be a bit slow and gradual not like in ofp/arma. for me is time to adopt a more realistic way to be able to peek around corners... any chance to see this solution working on arma 2? so what you think about it?  sry for my english as you can understand im not english im just a google language tools abuser   . see ya. Commando84 0 Posted October 23, 2008 hmm yeah its a bit fast the lean option but i haven't noticed people misusing the lean function in open fights but i used it to dodge a.i bullets a few times standing in the street and they fireing on me and I just leaned and dodged the shoots
***LeGeND K1LLER*** 0 Posted October 23, 2008 hmm yeah its a bit fast the lean option but i haven't noticed people misusing the lean function in open fights. sometimes happens(especially when you are in front of a ctf funboyz player)..and it's horrible to see; and i dont feel to be in a realistic game when i see that   . anyway what you think about this idea? Sosna 0 Posted October 23, 2008 With a TrackIR/FreeTrack you can assign right and left panning to lean in that direction. In this case leaning is totally analog, i.e. you can lean as litle or as far as you want and at whatever speed. Arma 2 will likely support 6 DOF so it will detect banking of the head also. sk3pt 0 Posted October 23, 2008 That would be nice, and it would free up the 'E' key. Leaning (with the mouse) while you press AND HOLD 'q', and it stays in "desired lean" when you release... until you press it again right ? That would be awesome. EDIT Maybe it would be better if it stays in "desired lean" when you release, until you double tap 'q' (no lean). That way you could keep adjusting your lean by pressing/releasing/pressing, without snapping back to center (until you double tap).

max power 21 Posted October 24, 2008 I think that the leaning could be improved a lot in general. The way the model is set up its chest is almost squared up when shooting. This makes the weapon sit relatively far over to the right... leaning left around a corner to shoot doesn't expose you much less then just stepping out, and shooting around the corner to the right can be accomplished much better without leaning. For peeking, the model's eye is on the left side so you have the camera from the left eye and the camera from the weapon's iron sights, and leaning is not really much required in that regard. I think that it would be better to have the model's shooting position more sideward, so the weapon is close to the model's centre. This can be demonstrated by using the floating zone and putting the weapon all the way over to the left side of the screen. The position seems more natural and the weapon is underneath the model's head.
