Steam version doesnt work.

Recommended Posts

My friend just got the steam version of ArmA, patched to 1.14. (or even at 1.08). He will click on the exe to open the game. The small window with the 4 or 5 boxes comes up, it would check all of them, then dissapear. The game wouldnt ever load. Can anyone help?

I'm sorry kyle i misinformed you. I went out and bought the game on cd. So the problem is a little deeper. He hit what is happening right on the dot. The beta worked fine and also the demo. but the game is being stubborn. My pc is well with-in the requirments so im not sure what else this could be.

To run Arma/atari version, You make the first steam connection and start the game the FIRST time with Steam. After you patch to 1.14 you will have too run the game through Steam again to get a key. Then you can run with out.

I have moved my Atari/Steam version to different installs, And Started steam, new log on... Start game, new key... and then i can restart with out Steam.I put a shortcut from the arma.exe to desktop, not a shortcut thru Steam.

If that doesn't work for you then you may have a Firewall blocking a new ".exe"(arma.exe) and should allowthis ahead of time.

The Steam/atari folder is in;

\Steam\SteamApps\common\arma armed assault

Slightly confusing..you said kyle and we dont know his name.

Somewheres around here there is some help topics with exactly your problem.Altho I recall the problem happening with earlier versions of Arma where you required the cd to play.

Something along the lines of "cant have cd emulators running like daemon tools" but there are some other utilities that also interfere.I wasn't aware that this was still a problem.
