Island binarization makes map 'icons' disappear

Recommended Posts

g'day

probably two different problems.

Everything works fine as long as the islands (wrp) is not binarized.

Map view:

3d view:

Now after binarization on the map like icons for buildings, roads

and woods/trees disappear:

Any ideas or help is very much appreciated!

Damn, I can't remember the exact cause of this, but I'll ask you if your project folder is located on the P:\ root or in the "CA" folder?

hum.. maybe a path problem. But in other and if you had a path problem you would get an error message. Do you get any?

Have you already tried to export and import?

Its strange but some times this method solve some issues.

Even if its in P:\ca you shouldn't have this problem.

I have Al Bayuk in P:\CA\ (to test) and that issue does not happen.

Stupid question: Do you have the P:\ drive installed and are you using the models from P:\ca\buildings ? whistle.gif

Mmm after all the experts spoke up i can not add a lot biggrin_o.gif

All i can think of is that it might be same related problem as here:

http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=74777

You checked the bin temp for including all files is it? No errors?

For me it was not having the bin environment set correctly which resulted in some files not working correclty (missing normal map). So normal pbo worked fine but binned one missed stuff.

Also make sure you have the mymap.hpp in P:\mymap folder (i think its important)

I once had that problem but i soon found out what it was..

but now i can't remember exactly how i solved it. Might have to do with this .hpp file. (mine is empty inside by the way)

In your .pew file. Goto Tools>Roads. Select the Road Network Type you currently have defined and click 'Edit'. Select one of the tabs, say for instance 'Straight Parts'... hopefully you have a couple of 'straight part' road models defined therein.

Select one of them and click 'Edit'... you should get a dialog similar to this...

q2.jpg

Question 1: What is the full pathname (including filename) to one of your road models?

Question 2: What is the full pathname of the folder you are building into a binarized .pbo? (eg. obviously the folder your island is in that you are trying to binarize.)

Question 3: What BinPBO settings are you specifying when you try to build your binarized .pbo?

With this information it will be easier to deduce where binarize.exe is having a problem trying to reference/process your stuff.

Also, perhaps pastebin'ing your build.log for this .pbo might help.

PS. Oh... Question 1 & 2 again also for one of your 'Artificial Objects' that is not displaying a map icon.

Hmmm dont know if it is of any use but i remember vaguely i had something simular.

It happened when i accidently took a binned p3d model from the roads and putted it in my p:\ca\roads dir. The still standing roads disappeared from the map and ingame(after binning) but were visible in visitor.

When i dragged the models from bi back in the problem was gone.

Not sure if anything related and i kow crap from binning but maybe it helps in any way.
