Techobs2007 0 Posted July 2, 2008 Hi all, I purchased Arma Gold/Queens Gambit online from SproketIdea and Installed program. During install screen I have sound but in game no sound. All graphics works very well as I have a brand new machine. Re installed latest DX from MS and OpenAl. Also since I have Realtek onboard sound, updated driver RealtekXP from wiki troubleshoot page. Still no Joy ?
Placebo 29 Posted July 2, 2008 Can you confirm which driver version you installed? Is it the latest one from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/? Can you find out exactly which realtek audio it is? If you're not sure maybe name the motherboard make/model and we can find out.
Techobs2007 0 Posted July 3, 2008 Well still no joy here I'm afraid. Installed driver from Gigabyte for GA-M56S-S3 which has nVidia nForce 560 chipset and Realtek ALC888 onboard audio. Reinstalled Dx and ran Dxdiag. no problems there. version 9c. sound works in other games. Reistalled OpenAL as per wiki troubleshoot page. sent email to sproket idea and they asked for dxdiag txt and arma.rpt, sent those. noticed in arma.rpt file under audio it states no OpenAL found. Considered buying a creative sound card but at $300(AUS) but to expensive. So desperate to enjoy new game only to stumped by this. Mad as Hell

King Haggis 0 Posted July 3, 2008 Have you tried putting -dsound behind the arma.exe shortcut on your desktop? Maybe it's got nothing to do with your problem but it worked for me when I had a conflict between realtek and creative software. You won't get to enjoy all soundeffects properly but it might keep you going till you find a more permanent solution. Good luck! I know how frustrating PC problems can be. Techobs2007 0 Posted July 3, 2008 Yeah dale0404 I did notice a few bits of graphics appeared when i reinstalled it. 3 time reinstalled still no sound. King Haggis do you mean to edit the shortcut execute line to read like so. "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\arma.exe" -mod=DBE1 -dsound still working on it. downloading update for aram to ver 1.14 maybe that might work

King Haggis 0 Posted July 3, 2008 No problem. I got that tip from another forum member when I had problems running the game myself. You might have a problem with your Realtek drivers. When your drivers don't work and you remove them to install a newer (or older) version, Realtek drivers sometimes have the nasty habit of leaving traces of the first drivers behind which may conflict with the newer driver. To remove these Realtek drivers correctly follow the following steps: Remove the file "adi_oal.dll" from the Windows/system32 directory. After that's been done, go to Controlpanel -> Programs (or "software" if you have XP) and remove the program "Host OpenAl (Adi)". Only after you followed these steps you should try a different/newer Realtek driver. I don't know if this works for your soundcard but the onboard card that came with my Asus mainboard gave me sound problems with ArmA and Racedriver Grid because it conflicted with OpenAl. If you don't have that adi_oal.dll file in your system32 directory and/or if you don't have that Host OpenAl program installed, this solution may not apply to your problem. In that case you have a different soundcard and I'm all out of options. Good luck!
