Beetle Bailey 0 Posted June 14, 2008 When I start the game, I get this error... Cannot create 3D device Adapter 0 (Nvidia Geforce4 MX 4000) Fullscreen Resolution 800x600, format X8R8G8B8/A8R8G8B8/D24S8 Error D3DERR_INVALIDCALL I have no idea what this means so any help would be appreciated. echo1 0 Posted June 14, 2008 Have you run the game before now? If not, I remember a few years ago (2005-2006), it used to be quite popular to say along the bottom of the latest games: Quote[/b] ]This game does not support GeForce4 MX cards. I think it had something to do with shader support, as the GeForce4MX cards were based on the much older GeForce2 cards. I'd say that problem would apply for most games made recently designed around DirectX 9 features. You could try reinstalling DirectX, but you may be out of luck If you have got it working before, please ignore everything Ive said so far It may be a problem with DirectX, try reinstalling it and/or drivers and see if that does anything. Pirin 0 Posted June 15, 2008 haha... I guess im screwed then because ive never been able to run the game so far... new graphics card here i come... thanks for the help Pretty much anything will be a great upgrade for you, but the NVidia 8800GT or 9600GT would be really good cards. Keep in mind you'll need to be able to use a PCI-E (PCI Express) card. Often if you've been using a MX card you'll probably need to upgrade everything (motherboard, RAM, processor, probably hard drive) in order to get a newer card. In other words, a new PC! echo1 0 Posted June 16, 2008 Make sure you check the specs on Dell XPS machines before getting them. Dell has a funny habit of trying to pass off substandard PCs as "Extreme Gaming PCs" or whatnot.
