-IC-Wedge 0 Posted April 29, 2008 Hi guys Is there anything specific i need to do Config wise or other to make this work on a dedi server. I am having a few problems so any help is good Many thanks Wedge
rstratton 0 Posted May 2, 2008 for starters your rvmat files cannot call for .png textures unles your textures are in png format
ProwlerWolf 0 Posted May 3, 2008 Do a search on google for UltraEdit, open up your layers directory and do a convert of png to paa. Also make sure the rvmats for your textures are also paa. It's really easy to search of these forums as 99/100 your question has already been answered. Just a little reminder for those that are new to editing. -IC-Wedge 0 Posted May 5, 2008 I really did try and search for this and im not a new comer. All my textures are in .PAA but my rvmats, upon opening and inspecting, are indeed calling for PNG files. Is there anyway to change this other than individually changing each rvmat file in notepad?? When i open rvmat in ultraedit it looks like a hex editor and i dont see how i can change it without doing it one by one. Sorry for sounding thick....but i am hehe Im am truelly sorry if am repeating a previously asked question. Regards Wedge
rstratton 0 Posted May 8, 2008 search for kegety's arma tools. it contains a program called unrap. it will decode the binarized rvmats. just rename the output files to .rvmat after u delete the originals. notepad ++ is a good program but u can only open like 25 files at a time
-IC-Wedge 0 Posted May 12, 2008 So this means that i still have to edit these files 1 by 1 to change it from png to paa?
Guest RKSL-Rock Posted May 12, 2008 Wedge @ May 12 2008,18:55)]So this means that i still have to edit these files 1 by 1 to change it from png to paa? If you are using the latest Visitor 3 Build than you don’t need to do any of this...  The program sorts out all the PNG to PAA conversion and the RVMAT paths etc.  The only RVMATs you need concern yourself with are the texture file defines.  IE the ones you make your self for the textures.  NOT the ones generated by the import process. -IC-Wedge 0 Posted May 12, 2008 Well I am using Vis 3 current version and yes it converts the textures for me. I dont think my problem is texture based as i hust tested out one of Alex.Sworns islands and his textures and RVmats are exactly the same as mine. I am however packing it with Kegs PBO tool.... is this my problem ? Whenever i use Bin PBO i seem to lose all the buildings on the map ingame. Edit:- and it also cannot load material file blah/blah/p_000-000_|00.rvmat ...... so maybe i do have a problem

What exactly is the problem?
-IC-Wedge 0 Posted May 12, 2008 just wont work on a dedi when i pack with Kegs PBO and i cant get it to work properly with Bin PBO, considering the whole reason i built it was for my tournaments dedi box then it defeats the object :-) Iit works perfectly on my LAN and sp If you wanna take a look for me then i will email it ... send me a pm if not no worries
Synide 0 Posted May 13, 2008 Mostly commonly... If you are a making standalone addon AND you are using cpbo.exe to squash your folder into a pbo you don't have a $pboprefix$ file in the folder OR the prefix you have specified in this file does not match up with what you are specifying in your texture & material paths. OR, you are making a standalone addon and you are using BinPBO with incorrect settings on the 'Options' tab for 'Path to project folder' and 'Addon prefix' and these settings are not consistent with what you have specified in your texture & material paths. OR, you are making a standalone addon and your using BinPBO and the folder for this addon is not in the root folder on your P:\ drive but in a subfolder. And, your prefix's don't match with your texture & material pathname properly... OR, your making a standalone addon and your using cpbo.exe and you don't have a $pboprefix$ file present in the addon folder. OR, you do have the file but the prefix inside is slightly wrong or doesn't match with the texture & material pathnames. OR, all of the above repeated again but this time as part of a MOD and not as a standalone addon. if you want me to have a squizzy I will... just send a pm and I'll give you somehere to upload it... -IC-Wedge 0 Posted May 13, 2008 Thanks for your response. I will explain my setup and then maybe you could tell me what i need to do to get it right. It may well be something very simple. So..... i have P: - arma work folder Within P: i have a CA folder Within CA folder i have all of my un-pbo'd folders and also my island folder ic_barbuda so with this in mind lets think about the BinPBO setup i have SETTINGS Addon Source Directory:- p:\ca\ic_barbuda Destination Directory:- p:\ca Clear temp folder:- check binarize:- check OPTIONS List of files to copy:- *.pac;*.paa;*.rtm;*.sqf;*.sqs;*.bikb;*.fsm;*.wss;*.ogg;*.wav;*.fxy;*.csv;*.html ;*.lip;*.txt;*.wrp;*.bisurf Create Log File:- check Path to Temp folder:- C:\DOCUME~1\Wedgie\LOCALS~1\Temp\ARMAaddons Path to project folder:- p:\ca\ic_barbuda use source path:- check Addon Prefix:- Auto ----------------------------------------------- Im sure there is something obvious here so if you can see whats wrong please lemme know. I really just want to get this island released. But it must work on a dedi server first. :-) Wedge
sickboy 13 Posted May 13, 2008 Alex.Sworn islands were mostly Islands that crashed Dedicated Servers, together with the early versions of Sakakah (not by A.S). If dedicated servers have problems with the Island, as in .. locking up the whole server and/or ctd'ing and giving out of memory errors, then it most probably is a problem with the rvmat's pointing still to the .png's instead of the .paa's. When all files are unbinarized, you should be able to use the mentioned ultraEdit method to mass-edit the files to the correct texture extentions.
Guest RKSL-Rock Posted May 13, 2008 I've had a proper look through your island now. Just as Sickboy says its your RVMAT files referencing PNG files.
-IC-Wedge 0 Posted May 13, 2008 yeah so if we are sure thats it then i will go ahead and edit them. The server wont even load up the island. Now i really dont mean to p*** anyone off by asking so please dont get mad....... So i have ultra edit, but i still cant see how to change files en mass i am still opening them 1 by 1 to change the path manually. If anyone has any tips on the process that would be very helpfull. Sorry once again..i do normally try and work this stuff out alone but my time is getting very limited. On a side note if anyone else would like to take part in a small closed beta let me know via pm.....feedback is always good. Regards Wedge

Bear in mind this wont work on binarised format which is what you have in the version you gave me. Â You will have to reimport your satelite map etc to regenerate trhem as plain text Quote[/b] ]1) Open Ultraedit, go to Search->Replace In files.2)In the "Find" field you type PNG 3) In the "Replace With" filed you type in PAA 4) Leave the space in "In Files/Types" field blank. 5) In the "Directory" Filed you would type in your case P:\fallujah\data\layers 6) Then you click the "Replace All" button 7) Then save and exit.
