I can't believe it!

Recommended Posts

I have had a browse and I can't believe there isn't any mention of the late Spike Milligan!

Such a great comedian deserves more recognition than that.

Spike was possibly the epitome of British comedy.

Just thought it may have led to a thread of light hearted humour in his honour.

Need to change your avatar though, Paladin.

It doesn't load (right now anyway)

Who's the chick at the bottom?

Can someone post a picture of this (dead) guy, so I can see if he even rings a bell...

..cough*Troll*cough

Not true in my opinion.

I enjoy Letterman for example. And films like "Airplane", "The Naked Gun" etc. really gave me some good laugh.

And the worlds best sitcom is American = The Simpsons.

South Park is American (also funny)...

lot's of funny comedians...

And then there's a guy like Tom Lehrer, which most people here probably haven't heard of...

Then there's the incredibly, unbelievably bad things like "The Waterboy". Whoever released that to the public should be kicked in the groin.

The Simpsons are my favourite, too!!! biggrin.gif

I remember not so many english comedians right now, only Monty Python of course and Benny Hill (maybe because of the chicks tounge.gif )...

We germans are not big fans of british humour. Most germans think it`s to harsh.

But I like it tounge.gif

Good God almighty! You are English, and you've never heard of Spike Milligan?

Spike Milligan was the comedian that Monty Python copied. The "Goon Show" was a milestone in radio broadcasting. He was an incredibly funny author as well. Fortuneatly for you, now he's dead, the media maggots will probably put his books back on the shelves to cash in. Watch out for "Puckoon," and his war memoirs; the first book being "Adolf Hitler; My part in his downfall," followed by "Rommel? Gunner Who?" and ending with "Montgomery; My Part in His Victory."

Read them. they are amongst the funniest words ever written

The Brits have lots of good humor.

Monty Python or course, subsequently Fawlty Towers.

Blackadder was great, Mr.Bean periodically funny.

Then there are the people who made The Young Ones &  Bottom and more stuff.

Now...Smack The Pony, Ali G (hilarious) and many more...

I see it now Paladin, looks like Magneto from X-Men

All good things (Letterman excluded) but these things are all simplistic and predictable. Good solid british humour can be unpredictable and... Sod it. We've got the best comedy.

You lot just don't understand.

yes spike milligan was one of the finest comediens about his radio shows with peter sellers ( inspector cleuso from pink panther films i think) and harry secombe were fantastic.

His telly performances were unreal

i watched his tribute and found him laughing at his own jokes, i find that is the making of a good comedien that laughs at his own stuff smile.gif
