tornado79 0 Posted April 20, 2008 hello, i wrote an e-mail to arma-idea, they replied me suggesting to re-download the file. i did it, but i did not solve the problem.... some months ago i installed an italian version of arma on my pc, and i it worked perfectly. unfortunately, i deleted some files, so the game did not worked anymore. i believe that my problem is related to this thing. infact, when istallation of arma begins, it starts in italian language and not in english. i bought the english version. i also searched on google. i found that somebody had the same problem, but nobody succeed in resolving it....this sounds not good!! what can you suggest to do? i think i will ask to sprocket idea to be refounded. it is obvious that they sent me a corrupted or invalid file, so it is a problem of them!! Lou Montana 101 Posted April 20, 2008 Or older italian files are interfering with newest installation ! You should first uninstall italian ArmA, eradicate all old italian files, clear all registry data (if you know how, always make a backup ! ). You should try to install your freshly downloaded installation setup on a clean system. If ArmA is in italian first, it's sign that old files were not overriden, and then became incompatible with newest. Give feedback
tornado79 0 Posted April 20, 2008 sorry, how can i clear all registry data? i know that i have to enter in regedit, but what i should do next? Can you give me a tip or an hint?
FritzDaKat 0 Posted April 20, 2008 Well, before you try opening the registry editor and going in manually, try using a registry cleaning utility (Theres quite a few at http://www.webattack.com/. It's a great site to find pre-tested, spyware free shareware & freeware utilities for a great number of purposes, registry cleaning being one of them. (I use the Eusing free registry cleaner, works pretty good) In the event you're running Vista there may be something left from the Italian install in the Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository folder as well, I'd guess the best way to find the folder in question would be to search thru the folder creation dates in there. I'm sure Vista has a few more folders which hang on to residuals from uninstalled app's elswhere (Like documents & settings folder) So I'd say a search for "leftover files after uninstall" in Google might be in order. Also, in cases of the File Repository and the Documents & settings folder, you must alter the access privelages (Need to be logged as administrator to do so) to allow for deleting of unwanted files (I'd personally suggest making a backup of anything you want to be rid of just for saftey's sake, mabey go as far as setting a restore point before fudging with things.) Anyway, once you've run a reg.cleaner and ensured theres nothing left from ArmA / Codemasters / Atari / Cousin Joe, go ahead & try again. Good luck
