Death of the characters

Recommended Posts

I think that will be a good idea:

When a person get hit, will not die immediately. Instead, he may struggle for his life for a while and die in pain. And if he's instant death,(eg. hit in the head) he will fall in different direction but not only fall onto the ground.

P.S. I would like adding some injuries which cannot be treated. You know, a critical wound can be treated in field, stop kidding. We need immediate evacuation or he dies.

yes i totally agree here, i cant see think of any game where this has happened.

but it would be brilliant for atmospheric purposes, eg if you stumble upon an ambush site you could find some of your men critically injured and your squad could call in medivacs.

I can see Arma 2 getting banned in a number of countries if such is implemented as it would be considered "excessive gore and violence".

I also don´t see how such would contribute to gameplay at all apart from some teenagers getting a hard-on about it.

I do not regard myself as a teenager who gets a hard-on from the sight of gore and violence. I was not supporting effect of your comrades crawling on the floor in pain and anguish, i was supporting the survivability of soldiers and to what effect that has on the gameplay.

Than you have missed the original author´s intention:

Thread title: Death of the characters

Quote[/b] ]he may struggle for his life for a while and die in pain

I guess he was absolutely not talking about the survivabiltiy of wounded soldiers. He just want´s some more gore, pain and shaking when someone is lethally wounded.

STALKER kind of had this idea, where if an NPC was critically injured, but didn't die, he would lay on the ground holding his stomache. Personally I like the idea, because I think there should be some middle ground between living and death.

It could also add a new aspect of gameplay in less linear missions, where after a battle you or the leader would call in Medevac and then protect the helicopters from any late enemies.

Also, to me it seems kind of unrealistic in Arma how even though a soldier is injured to a point where he can't walk, he'll still crawl to battle and try to fight.
