Ree 0 Posted March 9, 2008 Hello, I've just recently installed OFP GOTY edition and got unpleasantly surprised by not being able to run the game at the highest detail. My specs: E6420, 2GB DDR2 800MHz, 8800 GTX, XP Pro SP2. Considering my specs and the age of the game, I got very surprised when setting terrain detail to very high and upping visibility put the game to a complete halt. I'm playing Cold War Crisis right now at normal terrain detail and visibility of 3000m and the game still isn't that smooth at times. I really doubt this is my problem since I have absolutely no similar problems with other games - they all run at the highest detail very smoothly. Does everyone experience similar problems? Is the game engine really that poorly implemented? P.S. The game itself is fantastic though
SeppSchrot 0 Posted March 9, 2008 Hello, no Home-PC System on earth is known to stem OFP:Resistance on highest settings at the time of writing. Especially visibility distance is a bottomless pit performance eater. Please ask yourself in honesty how much range of vision in full detail you are going to need. PS: Fullest terrain detail is not to be recommended anyway because it is to bumpy to drive on. Huge memory eater as well. Ok, the midlevel detail and 3000m should be no problem for your setup though. Try tweaking the LOD setting in the preferences. Oh, and I ran into slowdowns when told my NVIDIA to always antialiase. Because of the many bushes which had to be smoothed it had a huge performance impact.

That made me feel better Quote[/b] ]Please ask yourself in honesty how much range of vision in full detail you are going to need. All of it . But since it's not really possible, I'll have to do with less. The highest visibility would be especially nice to have during flights. <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">Ok, the midlevel detail and 3000m should be no problem for your setup though. Well, it isn't overall. Just could be smoother at times.
