ragnardb 0 Posted March 14, 2002 the f-15 strike eagle was made for air-to-air combat instead of a bomber
Cpl Ryan 1 Posted March 14, 2002 </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (LBGS_Stewart @ Mar. 01 2002,03:56)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">there is a difference between the F/A-18 and the F/A-18 super hornet.  the Super honet is much biger and the intake is hidden  in side the plane more and the outside of it is coated with a radar asorbant material  so it isnt as easy to detect, and the F/A-18 super hornet  also has a biger payload it can cary  so there is a difference    kind like land air craft and aircraft cariers,   the  landing gear is more heavy on planes for Aircraft Cariers. then the planes that are land based also  all the aircraft on aircraft Cariers also have two jet engiens insted of one    and there is good reasion behind this.  so there is always a difference   kinda like the  Tomcat and the Bombcat<span id='postcolor'> the difference in the F/A-18 C Hornet and the F/A-18 E Super Hornet from the outside are negligable...it being only slightly longer and wider and having 2 extra weapon pylons. The landing gear weight is not everly different...all that is different is the strength and durability. As for the Tomcat/Bombcat it is exactly the same aircraft...the F14D is what is known as the bombcat/tomcat only because of the added avionics. but this aint a flame...just a correction, anyway im off now... -DMF-MOD-_Sauron 0 Posted March 14, 2002 The F-16 will be in the air soon (maybe there is coming a JSF in the DMF-MOD
XtremeX19 0 Posted March 15, 2002 the F-15 C was made for AA combat, the strike eagle, F-15 E, was made for support/ percision bombing... though it does make a very effective fighter, with it's added missile racks. the only minus with the 15E's AA combat ability is that it's not as maneuverable (spelling?) as the 15C. time to go back to the shadows. Peace out
whisperFFW06 0 Posted March 15, 2002 Just a little correction about differences between F18 C & E. The first one is clearly visible (and has been stated above, I think), the air intake don't have the same shape (round for C, squared for E). For the dimension differences (source : FAS) : - 34 in. Fuselage Extension: The fuselage is slightly longer - the result of a 34-inch extension - 25% Larger Wing: A full 25 percent bigger than its predecessor, Super Hornet has nearly half as many parts. to see air intake difference : FA18 C : FA18E SuperHornet : Whis'
XtremeX19 0 Posted March 15, 2002 the super hornet also holds 33% more fuel. I have a book by Janes on it, and i also have the combat sim (rather fun might I add)
whisperFFW06 0 Posted March 16, 2002 Yeah, JFA18 is one of the top combat sim today, incredible avionics and procedures! Carrier landing, air refuelling, weapon delivery....everything is impressive. A must have.
