MehMan 0 Posted February 11, 2008 I've noticed that ArmA has, at least in planes, a throttle control, I'm using a keyboard so if I press throttle up the imaginary control moves up and the throttle stays constant, which is great since I have more control over my speed. However I am missing a throttle indicator, I can't really pinpoint my speed using the throttle. I can do guesswork but it's not as effective as if I had a throttle indicator(which defers from the speed indicator ofcourse) Perhaps it's in there but I haven't noticed it? But I don't believe so. wamingo 1 Posted February 11, 2008 In arma, keyboard thrust controls, controls the absolute speed. So arma's thrust control using keyboard is not really a throttle. A throttle has a min and a max. Min = no thrust and Max = full engine thrust capability and will accellerate the plane until it reaches the physical limits. So basicly a throttle indicator won't do you any good unless you have a real throttle in which case you could argue you don't need one... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I was a bit surprised to see this but it's true. Then the game trys to keep the plane at that constant speed, so when you go into a dive it automatically slows down the engines and when you pull up it gives full power. How is that not absolute speed control rather than throttle control? A throttle indicator would be useless because it would be flopping around all over the place depending on what you're doing. If you speed up to 250 km/h in level flight, the aircraft will attempt to keep you there whether you're climbing or diving.
