[aps]gnat 28 Posted January 28, 2008 UPDATE Ver 0.76 Very quick and dirty tool to double the resolution of your terrain grid used in Visitor. Uses the XYZ file format (Visitor will export) and extrapolates the new points based on the surrounding original vertex points. Can also be used to produce a 16bit BMP file on either the old or new file. 1- Click Read  2 - Click Resize  3 - Click Write The main reason I made the tool was to convert my 512x512 wrp grids into better looking 1024x grids to be imported into Visitor. I haven't idiot-proofed much of the application, so chances are you can overload it with a huge xyz file (> 4096 I think). As per all my tools, this is a no-install stand-alone exe file. .kju 3245 Posted January 28, 2008 What about shrinking? Lets say I'd like to make the terrain more bumpy, I need to shrink the terrain rather than doubling. Too tired probably .. Good tool Gnat!
[aps]gnat 28 Posted January 29, 2008 What about shrinking?Lets say I'd like to make the terrain more bumpy, I need to shrink the terrain rather than doubling. Hmmm ... you don't mean "shrink" height right Q? This tool is for doubling the "grid" pattern resolution. i.e. if the terrain grid is 256x256 spread across a 51km map, the hills will look VERY angular. "Double" (or even double-double) the grid and the hills for example won't look so angular. ... but, hey, shrink a grid, why not, should be simple to add to this tool. Next release. .kju 3245 Posted January 29, 2008 Well I am not much into WRP editing.. I think it was called cell size I was about. Lets say your island is 100m x 100m. Lets say the distance between 'terrain height points' is 10m. Lets say with this resolution the terrain is rather flat. Now I'd like to make the island 50m x 50m and therefore all 'terrain height points' will moved closer to each other. The result should be more bumpy terrain. Is this what your tool is about or something different?
[aps]gnat 28 Posted January 30, 2008 *brain hurts thinking about your example* Yes ... and no The island stays the same size, but the number of sections its cut up into is increased .... x2.
.kju 3245 Posted January 30, 2008 Same here. Well to sum it up I am interested in bumpy terrain like in OFP with very high terrain detail. As far as I know cell size is important here. I will try to supply you with an image later.
[aps]gnat 28 Posted February 9, 2008 Updated first post to version 0.76 - Now deals with more variety on X and Y values. - Changable delimiters Warning: Can be memory hungry on large maps.
