Object detail problem...

Recommended Posts

Howdy All,

I searched around trying to find the answer but I'm not real good at searching for stuff so figured I would try just asking.

I have created a rifle range that simulates the distances on Marine Corps rifle ranges; 200, 300 and 500 yards. I am new to mission and multiplayer creation so ran into a problem. I have the red pop up targets down range.

At 200 and 300 yards everyone can see the targets fine. However, when people back up to the 500 yard line; certain people loose the targets. Everyone has to set the object detail on very high. Then they have to pull up the iron sights and zoom in (hold breath) to see the targets.

Problem is that this only works for some people and not others. I can set every video setting to low/disabled and only set object detail on very high and I can zoom in and see the targets. But other players can't. We have walked though and checked to see if their object detail was set on very high and their view distance use up around 600meters but some people just cannot see the targets.

It is weird because the people that can't see the targets have some of the same video cards as those that can. Any help would be appreciated.

Respectfully,

Tigernan

Do they "lose" the targets because there's a white fog over them?

Some of them say it is fog like emptiness. Others say they see the sand bag lane all the way down but the pop ups are not there.

Negative, server runs 1.08. Now if 1.09 is out of beta then we will load that. But currently it runs 1.08.

Do some of them have Geforce 8800 graphics cards? There's a known fog bug with that, fixed in 1.09

I do not believe that anyone said they had that 8800.. but I will double check tomorrow when they are on.
