Operation flashpoint vs half life

Usually I find things over the internet saying wether the winner of this years game award should be OFP or Half life (it's won soooo.. many!! they say OFP is great with it's realism, interactivity, game length and challenging, while Half life is great for all out full-auto alien hunting!!!

I myself vote for OFP, Half Life SUCKS! compared to OFP, I mean could now be the time for OFP to shine and be called the "Greatest game ever made"? If you think so then tell me!! BIS needs YOU!!

how can u even compare the two? they r so different...

those r the top 2 in the best games ever made list (in my opinion at least) . each one is a ground breaking in its genere:

hl - redifined the FPS.

opf - the combat sim.

but still, beside the first person view...they r totaly aiming and different direction.

u wanna compare something to hl, take MOH or shitty RTCW not ofp.

Opflashpoint will never outlast halflife and thats a fact look at all the mods.

opflash is only at the beginning of it's life span in my opinion.

Here in aus. many ppl still don't know about it, and as you said "look at all the mods", mods will soon be being released by the hundred as soon as the tools are released. A lot of them will be crap, but you just know that there's gonna be good ones.

As soon as we have the tools, and if bis expands the scripting language for ofp, we'll have all we need to make ofp into anything we want.

We all know that ofp has alot of elements that make a great game, and with the release of editing tools it'll have staying power too.

I played Half-Life before, but i just couldn't play half-Life anymore when i got OFP. These two games are totaly different and cannot be compared. Half-Life is so unrealistic and OFP is so realistic.

Why do u compare, half life has a bigger fan base and will outlast Opflashpoint and u will pay me alot of respect i a year or 2 when opflash has about 500 ppl playing online. How many game of the year awards did Halflife get on the year of its release it was over 50.

Dunno, I was a Half-Life/Counter-Strike/DoD fanatic, but since I picked up Flashpoint my Half-Life CD's been collecting dust.

A more appropriate comparison would be between Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and Half-Life. MoH:AA has already reached up to 3000 players online, a number Half-Life didn't see for quite some time. Although you could argue that a good portion of MoH:AA players came from the Half-Life community. I'm one of them.

Anyways, back to the subject...

OFP can't be considered a serious contender with Half-Life until the netcode and the online gaming process (joining a game, dynamic respawning, etc) are completely overhauled.

Bohemia is on the right track by frequently updating the game itself.  They just need to include the right update.

Half life itself sucks major ass, but if you get into DoD its really fun and far better than the game itselft not to mention its free.

i dont care how many people play halflife and you say halflife will be more popular but i dont care what other people say ofp is my favorite game and probally always will be. i dont think the marine corp. picked out halflife to help their training,

actually OPF CAN be compared with HL,even tho its not related. any game can be compared to any game, its just the differences augment when the 2 games are in totally different catagories. OPF in my opinion should be the game of the year, because halflife has already had its time anyway, its had 4 years to get that chance

Wel u cant say because its won so many that it should give it a new game, opflash is amazing yes its true but halflife did more for the games indusrty than most games will, if bis keeps up with the updates they will become large but not as big as Halflife simply because the multiplayer is not very accessable due gheyspy and ASE is ok, i think there will be thousands of people playing Opflash but single player mods is where it lys for Opflash.

Operation Flashpoint is the better game. But Half-Life and its several mods do have their charm. (I play Half-Life,CS,TFC,HLDM They are all good mods of hl, but the HL engine allows us to exploit glitches.)

It's not a matter of which game is better but rather which is more popular. The games are very different but that's what makes them so appealing. The fact of the matter is that HL is more well known. But thats not to say that soon operation flashpoint will have the same popularity status. Thats my take. Out.
