Error after new installation

I reformatted recently and re-installed ArmA. It worked perfectly fine before, I'm running Windows XP, 2.4Ghz E6600 by Intel, and a GeForce 8800 768mb XFX and I get this error upon starting the game.

Error compiling pixel shader PSSpecularAlpha

Another error pops up briefly before it, any suggestions? I've tried searching and all things related to it were with mods, this is an unmodded version. Thanks.

hello,

first : do you have your latest drivers ?

scnd : are you trying the 1.09beta patch ?

if you're using the beta, your shortcut should looks like :

Start : "C:\Games\ArmA\beta\Arma.exe"

Start in : "C:\Games\ArmA"

AND you must be patched in 1.08, of course.

If both didn't work, I don't see another solution atm (*tired*).

Yeah, 1.8 patch, latest drivers. My shortcut looks like this:

Target - "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\arma.exe"

Start In - "C:\Program files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA"

Have you updated all drivers after the reinstall of you`re OS?

The drivers shipped on CD with the hardware are very old.

Got the latest drivers from Dec 17, 2007. Still doesn't work.

Absolutely NO MOD, NO ADDON (even in the "Addon" folder! ) ?

No error during patching 1.04 -> 1.05 -> 1.08 ?

You must NOT directly install 1.08 patch (and I guess you can't, too)

Except these answers, I don't see anything else... sorry.

Oh, I think that's it. I forgot and installed 1.08 directly, I'll try and install the patches from the beginning... Durr, Thank you. I'll be back with the results soon.

As this has been resolved I'll close it and search will throw it up for anyone with similar installation type errors
