Major Blood 0 Posted December 19, 2007 Hello All I am having some BIG trouble playing ArmA online. Here is the situation: A friend and I like to make online passworded games to try out new add-ons and missions together. The problem is, after being online for about 20-25 minutes the game crashes. ( You know, the game freezes and seconds counting up unitl the connection is lost.) This happens every single time we make a game without fail. This is occuring with and without any addons. This is also happening while on line playing evolution, ctf, bezerk, ect. on other peoples servers. Even while I am playing, I get a message stating that I am losing connection. So, I am a noob online gamer, but have never had this problem before with any other game. I consistently get booted in about 20-25 mins, no matter where I am playing and what type of game it is, or no matter how many people are in the game. (The 20-25 minutes: Yes, I have timed the occurances.) I am aware of Ping, and other factors such as internet connection, and what server you are playing on, ect. I have heard of opening ports and such, but have no idea how to resolve this issue. ArmA is NOT fun anymore if I can't play online. There is nothing more frustrating than getting kicked every half hour of so. Makes it very difficult to get into a game. Has anyone had this issue? Does anyone know of a solution? Please help me. I am about to just give up. My question is this:
Infam0us 10 Posted December 20, 2007 Just an idea from reading your post, but you sure its not another issue like overheating?
Major Blood 0 Posted December 20, 2007 That is not a bad thought. Â I am able to play single player and mess around in the editor for hours with not trouble. There is something that is killing my mutliplayer. There is no overheating issue. HELP!!!!!!
BraTTy 0 Posted December 21, 2007 So which antivirus-firewall programs are you using? I used to run Panda's and after about 30 minutes I could no longer even browse the web, of course I shut-it-off for online gaming
Major Blood 0 Posted December 21, 2007 Hello I am currently using Mcafee Virus protection. I will try to disable the firewall to see if this helps. Are there ports that need to be opened? If so, which ones? Thanks for the suggestion. I will give it a try.
deanob 10 Posted October 6, 2009 Same problem here... Have opened ports and tried everything but still the same. Have you got the CD version or the steam/download version? I have CD and have that issue. :(
desertjedi 3 Posted October 7, 2009 If the failure comes at about the same time every time, it sounds like overheating. As noted, I would kill McAfee but then I would also bypass your router by connecting your PC directly to the internet and then play a session and see if the problem repeats. Without taking your router out of the equation, I don't think you can rule it out as the problem.
