Bright lightposts shining through hill

Recommended Posts

While walking towards a town on foot at night, the lighted street lamp could be seen through the hillside.

You are wrong here, for you do not note the entire problem!

It is all and any light source that is seen through objects and terrain.

It most certainly is not a simply matter of lightposts.

I haven't seen the headlights doing this. I think what you're seeing is that the headlights light up like a big square at a time.

I have definitely seen the light posts do this though. Makes it easy to find towns at night anyway.

I've always wondered what's up with the coronas around lights going through objects -- I have a VooDoo 5, and when I play, all coronas go through objects, except for the sun's. So it isn't some clipping problem, because the game engine CAN handle it. Very strange indeed. Unless they were able to have the sun's work properly through some sort of simplified clipping algorithm, I don't know.

It's hard to get proper coronas due to the way visibility and transparency works. It's the same in HL anyway if you look.
