Display adapter does not support D24S8 for X8R8G8B

Recommended Posts

When I try to start ArmA up, I get the error message

Quote[/b] ]Display adapter does not support D24S8 for X8R8G8B8

I have been here, to the BI Wiki, and it says

"Go to your display properties, open the troubleshooting tab, and set the Hardware acceleration to "Full"."

It was already set to Full, and I still have the problem. I set it down, tried it, put it back up to full, but always get the message.

My specs are:

Intel Core 2 CPU 6600 @2.40GHz (2CPUs)

2048MBs RAM

DirectX 9.0c

NVIDIA GeForce 7600GS, 256MBs

ArmA version 1.08

Any help is appreciated... I havent had internet access in months and Im dying to get back into the action. Its worked fine before now, I don't know whats happened...

Hey there!

i just upgraded my vid card. (X800) and have a brand new HD3850 AGP

i encounter the same problem as you had.

"display adapter does not support format D24S8 for X8R8G8B8"

The solution from the Wiki didnt work, as it was already set on full hardware accelleration.

any-1 has an idea how to solve this?

You updated/reinstalled Directx?

yes i did, and didnt help.

i tried the Omega Drivers, and all is working fine now.

(with Catalyst drivers, even desktop 2d performance was poor! )

but now, i must say: ArmA looks friggen awesome now  with high settings, higher resolutions  and +/-6km viewdistance

The same thing happened last night to me.

A little history:

I was playing a co-op game solo online and got called away from the computer for about an hour.

There was no action happening, I had no AI and was in a safe place.

When I came back the game was frozen the sceen was sort of a "Grey Texture" and my computer's CPU was at a solid 100% use.

I attempted to minimize the sreen and up pops the NEVER SEEN BEFORE message

"Display adapter does not support D24S8 for X8R8G8B8"

Any Ideas, anybody?

I am starting to wonder if potential computer damage is possible.

I have not changed anything in months.

Except, Service Pack 3 Windows Xp.
