Morph 0 Posted February 25, 2002 I've tried tweaking my system to get greater performance in ofp but still get crappy framerates... My system: Pentium 3 700 with 512mb ram Creative Geforce 2 Pro 64mb ddr Directx 8.1 latest nvidia detonator drivers latest VIA 4 in 1 drivers turned off vsync and joystick support Running at 800x600 32bit colour with w-buffer OFF I have no programs running whatsoever, and yet its still quite bad.. I don't have any problems running other games such as Max Payne or MOHAA (Both I can run at full detail at 1024x768) Any more ideas?
R. Gerschwarzenge 0 Posted February 25, 2002 What kind of framerates you consider as crap?

I think its because of your VIA chipset. Experience teaches that using an Intel cpu in combination with a VIA chipset is like trying to swim across a lake with a bunch of bricks in your pockets. I used an MSI motherboard with VIA Apollo chipset + VIA 4-in-1 drivers before, but everything ran very crappy and unstable, so I bought an ASUS with i815 intel chipset. SMoooooooooooth!!!!! no crashes at all anymore and game performance seems to be increased by a factor of two. My suggestion is to grab one of those high quality intel boards and throw the old VIA thing away those are only made for manufacturers that wanna sell pentium computers at low prices. But back everything up before you install a new board, becuz ull need a fresh clean win install...
Morph 0 Posted February 25, 2002 Fair enough answer..... BUT... I don't have any other problems with games (they all run very smoothly), and windows 2k on my machine hardly ever crashes... Its just OP Flashpoint in mp mode that causes the most problems for me.....

Hmmm cant be that hard to calculate, because its no problem to play 1600x1200@32bit with an island full of troops killing of eachother in singleplayer
Morph 0 Posted February 26, 2002 Come to think about it.. It is actually worse on MP missions.. Especially nighttime black ops missions, where I usually get about 2fps...
