tj72 0 Posted October 22, 2007 I have an idea and the ability to locate where a round of a given weapon lands is integral to its success. Is it even possible to get the position of the explosion/detonation of things? If yes then any examples of the processes would be of great help to the idea. .COMmunist 0 Posted October 22, 2007 if I remember correctly, there was a discussion about the coordinates on the map for Gigan's Scud missile. People were trying to figure out how to script the exact point of impact for the scud on the map. One guy explained it really well. Find that discussion thread and you might find what you are looking for.

CarlGustaffa 4 Posted October 23, 2007 Would this be possible for smoke grenades? I'd love to use viewblock objects from MAP_Misc, but I have no idea where to put them. However, I'm only having success with the biggest viewblocks. Bug in the addon?
tj72 0 Posted October 23, 2007 Once you have the location where the round fell a smoke grenade could be spawned there and then this object could be spawned as well. Im not familiar with the addon but I get what your going for. It would be cool to pop a big wall of smoke for an assault and actually block the AI view just as humans view would be blocked. Obviously not an issue for PvP I think I have the info I need. I think a simple indirect fire solution could be made with this idea. But yeah different rounds would be possible. My idea was for Mk19 however.
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted October 23, 2007 I've checked out the scripts in map_misc, and apparently it looks like viewblock objects are actually spawned. However, they don't seem to work at all, at least not for those that uses small or medium sized viewblocks. Can't believe BIS has given us smoke grenades without an actual purpose in the (singleplayer) game.
