digitalcenturion 20 Posted October 17, 2007 Well, I used to have frequent ArmA CTDs and sometimes even BSODs, this also plauged other games like oblivion. I finally found out the reason, remember how the vista memory manager is supposedly more sensitive? Well, it is, apparently. The RAM timings of my memory were set wrong, and according to my MoBo manufacturer (MSI) this can cause trouble. So I hunted down Corsairs homepage and found out the correct timing for my memory, set it in BIOS and now it works. Amazing. Â My stats: -Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.67GHz 1333Mhz -MSI P965 NEO-F V2, P965, Socket-775 (flashed the bios as well) -Corsair TWIN2X 6400 DDR2, 2048MB CL5 Kit w/two matched CM2X1024A-6400 Dimm's -Samsung SpinPoint T166 500GB SATA2 16MB 7200RPM -XFX GeForce 8800GTS 500M 640MB GDDR3 (running on the latest betas, 163.75) Maybe this can help someone, it certainly was an aspect I didnt think about EDIT: Still got the fog bug, ofcourse, but that will be fixed on 1.09.. sickboy 13 Posted October 17, 2007 FYI, wrongly set memory timings will affect any OS or Program. Not just Vista.
Radic 0 Posted October 21, 2007 Not as "across the board" as you'd think - I had issues with FEAR crashing - never had similar probs with any other games or apps to that date - turned out to be an incorrect memory setting - but it only showed up in FEAR.
