warrior_reivaj 0 Posted October 7, 2007 Hi all,i am new on this forum. I have a problem with arma. Last week I bought the game and I have installed it on my computer plenty of times since then. I have read lots of topics, lots of websites but I had not any progress. When I try to run it the checkboxes window appears, then disappears and nothing happen but windows tells "An error ocured...". I'm running it on Windows XP, Geforce Fx5200 128Mb graphic memory, 1GB ram, amd athlon 2600, Direct x 9.0C. I tried my game on a friend's computer and it runs without any trouble, and his processor speed was slower than the mine. Any idea of what can I do? I have download the fix but now an error apears: AppName: arma.exe AppVer: 1.8.0.5163 ModName: arma.exe ModVer: 1.8.0.5163 Offset: 000b3b02 or this another: AppName: arma.exe AppVer: 1.8.0.5163 ModName: rfvibra2.dll ModVer: 4.0.1.1 Offset: 000021d0

BraTTy 0 Posted October 7, 2007 I am not talking about the error but you think it will run smooth with a FX5200? Video card upgrade is needed

Madus_Maximus 0 Posted October 7, 2007 I'd recommend upgrading your graphics card if you can afford it. You can get a 7800 in AGP (I'm assuming you have an AGP card considering it's an FX). Compared to PCI-X cards though AGP seem pretty damn pricey because they're less common, but if you look around you should be able to get a decent price for one. The more expensive but better alternative would be to get a new full system. You can get a pretty good set up for not that much to be fair, assuming you reuse some old bits (monitor, case, keyboard and so on). If you're from the UK check out dabs.com, ebuyer.com and scan.co.uk They're normally great for good prices. Oh and make sure all drivers and so on are up to date, along with Windows, and if you've not tried it yet try reinstalling DX. They release small updates sometimes even to 9c. Even if you get it working it'll be pretty hit and miss performance wise with that graphics card.

Video card upgrade is needed I dont believe it will even run the game at all will it? It wouldnt on my old FX5500... In fact on my DVD box it says this... Quote[/b] ]*Video cards that do not have full Hardware Pixel and Vertex Shader 2.x support such as the GeForce FX series or Intel Extreme Graphics, are not supported. Madus_Maximus 0 Posted October 8, 2007 I think only the top end FX cards had full Shader 2.0 support. I think that's why they changed the specs on the QG box to make it more clear. People were expecting to play it properly with an FX5200 with no problems.
