Crash in Multiplayer Menu

Recommended Posts

Ok this bug elaborated a bit, so I'm editing now to summarize measures taken and things that occurred to me.

My shit:

Q6600 4x 2.4GHz (Untouched)

ATi Radeon X1950XT

2GB Corsair PC800 RAM

WinXP Pro SP2 completely up to date

MSI P35/G33 Neo-F Series

Realtek Onboard Sound

ArmA German DVD Version 1.08 (Non-Hotfix, because I've tried that before). Of course this is a legit copy.

Symptom:

The computer locks up *completely* when I try to join an Multiplayergame or when I try to host one. Also, the sound is 'flickering' really awkward. It sounds like its echoing a bit or something. Hard to describe.

Measures taken:

- Turned off my firewall

- Replaced my OpenAL32.dll in windows

- Reinstalled completely and went without the 1.08 Hotfix

- I played around with sound-settings

- Hammered ctrl+alt+del, alt+f4, ctrl+esc, alt+tab

Status: SOLVED.

I put away my old Creative soundcard and now use my Realtek onboard card/drivers. Things working fine now. Its not a satisfactory solution though, so I really recommend the devs should have a look at this.

hmmkay, thanks for the input.

But isn't it really strange how I can't even close down the program, regardless of how many times I'm hammering ctrl+alt+del, alt+f4 and so forth?

It really has to be said that I cannot even terminate the program. I tried ctrl+alt+del to terminate it, nothing would help except for pressing the reboot button. I even tried to shutdown windows but it CANNOT terminate arma.exe, it stays alive no matter what I try.

It happened again today after playing a LAN match over hamachi. I clicked on the "disconnect" button and it hung itself... the only solution was a hardware reset.

So I now reinstalled the game completely ( German DVD, 1.50 Full, 1.50 to 1.80) and the error is still the same.

I think the issue is solved by now.

Here is how: I put out my old Creative SoundBlaster Live! soundcard and activated my onboard sound (Realtek 7.1 HD stuff).

I then just installed the according drivers and since then, I can join any mp game I want.

BIG LOSS however: recording volume of the onboard sound sucks major ass. I can do what I want, I can't boost my mic volume or anything. Maybe I have to buy a new soundcard or something -.-

Thanks for the update solid84!

Glad you can see some light smile_o.gif

Sound cards always were and will be a major annoyance.

I am not up to date, but creative drivers were always crap..
