cross 1 Posted September 14, 2007 BIS Please release the DSSign tool as soon as you can so that we can have the signature verification on and use lovely mods like FDF, Madmatts, Truemods and all others... Or put up a poll and release BIS made keys for top 10-20 mods. Why do we have to stick to the original files to keep cheaters out.
NeMeSiS 11 Posted September 14, 2007 If they would release the thing then everyone could sign anything which would ruin the purpose of it right?

zyklone 1 Posted September 14, 2007 Most mods are so poorly built they can themselves be used to execute cheats.. I'd be very careful which mods you allow if you're running a server.

Addon makers need to be very careful what they sign. And an addon should be properly tested before it is signed. Imagine signing an addon, then find it has a bug such as causing weapons to have no recoil or something. Then you would have just signed a cheat Any addon that is signed should not access any files that are not contained in a *.pbo with an identical signature, because that would allow modification of the addon without breaking the signature, and would defeat the point of signing it. rundll.exe 12 Posted September 16, 2007 I think it would be wise to release a beta first when the mod is complex, so the community can check for such errors, before the key is added.
