Dogtags 0 Posted August 28, 2007 Hi everyone. I have had issue after issue with Arma and I have spent many hours in recent months getting it running. Recently I build a new PC Q6600, 8800GTS , 2GB RAM with the hope that Arma would run smoothly and I was not dissapointed. Arma runs graphically very nicely now. My Problem: There is no sound what so ever in the game. On my old machine I had sound but using the ASUS P5k mobo with realtek HD sound I get nothing. The frustrating this is another 4 games I installed all work perfectly with sound so why not Arma. If I go into the sound settings in Arma I think EAX was on and H/W was off and I can't change them, clicking on them does nothing. The only way to change them is by changing the config file values for EAX and H/W but either way still no sound. The other thing is while I installed 1.04 and then patched that to 1.05 I ran 1.05 and I had sound, Great! then after patching to 1.08 I had no sound. Can anybody shed some light on this issue? any idea? Cheers Dogtags
Dogtags 0 Posted August 29, 2007 Bump! Does anybody have any idea at all? Would turning on both H/W and Eax do anything? not sure if that would be good or bad though.
BLSmith2112 0 Posted August 29, 2007 Try turning EAX off in your soundcard settings. I can't be sure what causes this.. hmmm
Dogtags 0 Posted August 29, 2007 Well I now do totally give up. After another fresh install on top of a fresh XP install, all new drivers again I had sound when I patched to 105 but as soon as I patch to 108 I have no sound. Thanks.
jasono 0 Posted August 29, 2007 -dsound Use DirectX sound. -openal Use OpenAl sound. Try one of them (switch between the two) in your ArmA Startup settings. Source : http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_Startup_Parameters

Dogtags 0 Posted August 30, 2007 Well putting -dsound gave me sound although all of the speech was broken up. -OpenAL did nothing, no sound for that. Any idea why that would be?
