Multiplayer Woes

Recommended Posts

My problem in Arma is that whenever I click the multiplayer button in the main menu the game loads the game seemingly is loading the multiplayer menu but then the music stops and the background movie stops and the game becomes unresponsive (I believe the proper term is 'hangs' ). However if a wait 2 minutes the game eventually reaches the multiplayer menu but the game remains unresponsive so I am unable to click or do anything. The game does appear to become responsive for .5 seconds every 45 seconds (also I don't think this is important but my icons on my toolbar try to 'pop up' however they aren't trying to get my attention and there is no message when I alt-tab out.

What I have tried so far:

1) because I have an nforce mobo I tried using a wireless connection but i still had the problem

2)I disabled all firewalls (and added Arma in the firewall exception lost) and also added my computer to my routers dmz

My rig:

Vista 32 bit

Nvidia 7900gt

Amd 4000+

3 gb of ram

nvidia nforce 4 motherboard

Can anyone please help me I am getting desperate banghead.gifhelp.gif

Must be something to do with your connection (either firewall, or perhaps you connect via a proxy, or it's slow?).

I also have this long wait since I am on a local-only connection (no international IP addresses allowed), game still tries connecting to the Gamespy networks regardless..

I do not connect via a proxy and I have already tried disabling my firewall (kapersky), windows firewall is disabled automatically by kapersky so I don't have to worry about that. My router is the linksys WRT54GS router, anybody else use that router and have my issues?

Try opening the ports required by ArmA on your router (2300-2400)?

I sometimes have issues with my Linksys router's DMZ i dunno why, maybe i dont set it up right or summat, but try these...

Required Ports: If you need to trigger ports behind a router or firewall the following ports are required to be open:

2302 ArmA

2303 Server

2305 VOIP

Or maybe Gamespy was down, it sometimes happens to me but usually only once every 3 months or something and i click multiplayer, it freezes for like 2 minutes, then i get a blank server list, but its responsive for me...
