Barely-injured 0 Posted August 8, 2007 that’s a nice idea but hard to pull off, I mean for the aircraft side but as far as the islands are concerned I think it is very doable Yes I know we can just play LOMAC but then again if you are shot down in LOMAC the game is over even if you eject but in ArmA you will be dropping into a living breathing world not to mention that all the ground forces in ArmA are much smarter and more "alive" then the ones in LOMAC and they could also be humans. but fantasies aside there is alot of work that needs to be done on the aircraft avionics and weapon systems (not to mention flight dynamics) inorder to make that work but honestly i think the chances of getting all these things are very slim Oh and I agree that we need such large islands anyway if only for open space long range tanks engagements. Hunin 0 Posted August 8, 2007 Of course, flying jets in ArmA is a lot of fun. I don't think anybody is denying that. But to have a real simulation, it comes up shy. Some things are still a pain in the butt - carriers for example - so while we can have these things, we won't be getting the same experience. What I think ArmA would be capable of doing quite well would be pre-Vietnam combat. No fancy computers or anything like that, just steam gauges, a gunsight, and whatever else you could carry! P.S. @ Hunin "Sidewinders kill - Amraams hardly do." I think you'll find this is wrong, unless you mean the Sparrow. The AMRAAM has been one of the best missiles deployed today. No, I ment AIM-120, but not commenting on it's performence as a AAM but as a "punchline" that BVR kills are rather the exeption then the rule. If I wrote Sparrow only half of the users would have known what I ment. PS Of course you could argue that the Aim-120 is still pretty effective under 10 klicks ( maybe even moreso then the Aim-9 in the C incarnation), but that's not why I made that comparsion. UNN 0 Posted August 8, 2007 Quote[/b] ]No, my concept is just a map concept. Big, and complex. Imagine flying in a UH60 with a assault team during 30 minuts, with a lot of air menace and land to air menace... Then you arrive in a Hight detailled zone (with arma elements...) and you fight then extract.I'm testing this concept creating the low poly models. Screens will come soon. Yeah, with all the people who profess to prefer game play over eye candy, this should not present a problem. Using Lock On in the title though, might give some people the wrong idea, although I understand where your coming from. Larger islands offer a good opportunity to balance out certain aspects of the game. The ground war is still relevant, only it becomes heavily dependant on air superiority, for ammo, fuel, reinforcements and close support e.t.c If you can live without the excellent standards in map making set by Sara. Then I'm sure it will offer an enticing form of game play, for those who are that way inclined. Looking forward to seeing the results of your tests.
