While I agree that RACS uses all Western equipment so far in the game, it also is not unusual for MANY Western backed governments in the developing world to have Mi-8/17 helicopters. Why? Because quite simply they are the best bang-for-the-buck multi-purpose helicopters on the market. They are less-expensive then a Uh-1, have very reliable engines/transmission, and are generally easy to maintain.

With that said, the KA-50 is not. The KA-50 is a very hi-tech design that I don't think has even been exported anywhere yet. Your current Mi-17 would be their primary gunship most likely as it can carry a huge load of rockets. They also already have the AH-6 Little Bird. However in real life, they would likely use the M500 Defender which while very similar to the Little Bird, has a FLIR on the nose and is primarily designed to fire TOW ATGM's. It was basically made to be a inexpensive tank hunter for developing countries. Another idea is adding a versin of your Mi-17 with AT-5 ATGM's mounted on the winglets along with some rockets.

At any rate, as other said, the Uh-1 is a good choice as well and in fact some countries operate a mixture of Mi-8/17's and UH-1 helicopters (like Iran). I don't think you need to make a whole new model however. I would recommend getting permission to use one of the many good UH-1 OFP models. If I remember correctly, there was that old black ops UH-1 that was released for the community to modify but I forget who made it. Nevertheless its a very nice model. You would just need to redo the textures for ArmA, change a few things on the model part names and stuff in Oxygen and of coarse change the cpp.config.

At any rate, this Mi-17 helicopter addon is a good start.

Hey Flat - would you consider adding a roundel and "Ejercito" to the tail?  Just to make it a bit more of a latin chopper?

They use M16s, M240's, M113s and Vulcans...as well as non Russian Landrovers and G36's. So there is an obvious US backing (considering they are being trained by the US to defend themselves against the North)

Have to agree with everything said here. And despite if less well off 'western' style countries do use the odd bit of eastern bloc hardware in the real world this is a fictional game loosely based/referenced examples of real world events/realities.

Having an MI17 being used by the RAC's when they up untill now, have only ever used western equipment (German mp5's/ British landrovers, US etc etc and not even an AK let alone a chopper made in eastern bloc countries) used in game is uncharacteristic to say the least.

You could argue that they used MI17's before western countries decided to provide hardware/military training/doctrine, but that would be a was or did and not a now.
