Is this possible to preview proxy models?

Is this possible to preview proxy models together with the model it's applied to ? For ex. if I have some bombs/rockets on the airplane added as proxies can i preview model with them ?

I tried placing the bomb model here and there , but no result sad_o.gif

Is this possible ? If not will it bepossible in the upcoming o2 ?

My Oxygen book says: If you want to see your weapon, then write down the PBO path and p3d name like this \VTE_aw\VTE_AIM9.p3d so the weapon is now displayed in buldozer.

When you are done, remove the \pbodir\ path from the proxy or otherwise it’s messed up in OFP.

OK. I got it. No need to change paths - just place p3d model into Data3D - it's default dir for 3d objects. It's even possible to view man model in the model, but I wonder if there's any chance to switch it into anim stance ?

yes, find the proxy in the list of 'Selections' and right-click on it.

From the small context menu that appears select 'Extract Proxy' - if the model is in the 'path' for O2 - first current model's folder then the P:\ drive (i guess) - it will be loaded in place of the proxy triangle.

'Extract Proxy (All LODS)' - i believe should convert the 'proxy' in all the lods in the current model.

If the proxy model is not found straight off you can navigate to it's location on your computer.

also, you can go the other way... make a proxy from a selection.

Me not sure, but i think with the 'Is this possible with new O2 PE ?' he meant 'I wonder if there's any chance to switch it into anim stance ?' where he is refurring to the cfg defined switched animation...

Can't answer you question, but somehow i think it is possible...how and if->?

ah ok... then... (i guess you are referring to the character model)

open the 'Animations' window... Shift-F2

right-click in the 'Animations' window and select 'From Matrices' from the context menu.

Navigate to the (previously extract contents of the anims.pbo somewhere on your machine) .rtm you want and click open.

you can now 'step' through the anim sequence via the 'Animations' window... wink_o.gif

ah, sorry... just re-read your post... haven't tried opening a vehicle model yet and then 'importing' the proxy for a crew member in a particular pose...

i bet though what you do is the above with a character model... then save out a 'temporary' version of the p3d... then open your vehicle model and load that temp character (posed) p3d model into one of the proxy cargo postions...

Edit: I just tried this and when i imported the posed soldier into the Hummer model it had the right pose... but was offset somewhat... perhaps there is a 'flag' one can set somewhere that tells O2 to center the import...

I called the temporarily 'posed' model something like 'SoldierSittingPose.p3d'.

Then I right-licked on the 'proxy::\CA\temp\proxies\UAZ\cargo01' selection and selected 'Extract Proxy' from the context menu.

Because I didn't call my temporarily posed model 'cargo01.p3d' (which i suppose i could have just as easily done) - O2 popped up the 'Proxy model not found. Please select another proxy model' file browsing dialog.

So I just browsed to the 'SoldierSittingPose.p3d' and voila !

Yeah, it says that in the biki O2 manual but when I tried it, it either doesn't work properly in this RC version of O2 or because the 'posed' model completely moved the 'origin' of the posed model it still was not proxied in the right place...

In the temp model one could just offset the moved man model the appropriate amount...

then re-import the proxy again...

Just tried to insert posed model in this way - i can't see any noticeable offset. But there're other problems - after moving posed model - ihave to get back to proxy somehow. but "move selection to proxy" creates proxy in the center of the model, not where i placed it sad_o.gif

I guess you know why i started this topic - adjusting proxies in the model is the most annoying part of OFP model conversion (i guess only sound adjustment could be as difficult). Moving proxy- preview in game takes a lot of time. Thus i'm looking for better ways:

1. vehicle model can be previewed in ofpanim. it's easy to view a lot of anims there to select a good one, but it's still annoyng to reload model every time

2. method discussed here.

I wonder if there any other ideas ?
