Whiskey® 0 Posted July 5, 2007 Ok check it out, I play online with my Battalion, and use Teamspeak. It worked fine up until two says ago. All of the sudden if I start ArmA with TS running , the sound goes to crap, it gets filled with static and pops and high pitch squeals. If I shut down TS the sound is fine, no issue at all. Up until two days ago I had not changed/installed/uninstalled any thing on my computer. I shut it down for the evening, started it up the next day and issue started. Since the issue started I have, Installed new sound drivers, reinstalled OpenAL, reinstalled TS, reinstalled ArmA, installed new video drivers, reseated the sound card and made sure that TS was using "wave". Any ideas? AMD 64 +4200 X2 Asus A8N32-sli deluxe 2Gb Corsair XMS 2X 7900GT X-Fi "extreme gamer" (the original version) Windows XP SP2
jdski 0 Posted July 5, 2007 I'm not sure what caused your problem, but you can try forcing DirectX sound or OpenAL sound by adding the following commands to your startup icon. -dsound         Use DirectX sound. -openal         Use OpenAl sound. Just right click your icon for ArmA and select properties. In the target box add the -dsound or -openal  to the end of the line. It should for example look like this I:\ArmA\arma.exe -nosplash -dsound Notice in mine I have ArmA installed on my "I" drive and I also have -nosplash in there as well so I don't get those startup splash screens. Try both of the sound drivers and see if either one works. It will only follow those commands when you use that altered icon and not all the ArmA icons you may have in other locations. I'm also curious if you tried starting TS after starting ArmA if you get the same problem.
Whiskey® 0 Posted July 5, 2007 Jdski, thanks for the info, didn't work though. I've tried this with TS already running when I start ArmA, starting it after, reinstalled TS, no luck
jdski 0 Posted July 5, 2007 Hmm, not sure but maybe you might want to make sure your recording device is still set to use the mic in windows. It could have switched to wave of something like that and creating some sort of feedback. Sounds like you may have already looked at obvious things like that already though. TS works ok if you don't start arma and you can commiunicate ok and all? I know the sound though. I use Roger WIlco and I had to shut it down when I started games with starforce protection or I would get squealing sounds like that. I had to start Roger Wilco after I started the game. But I haven't had those issues with the Securom protection.
Vegabond 0 Posted July 5, 2007 I also get this, I have xi-fi gamer, i can hear all the sounds like ona list for a few seconds then sqweaks and then it all goes out.. I have to alt tab and restart teamspeak, by doing that the game will crash within a hour because I alt tab..
memnoch 0 Posted July 6, 2007 If it's an issue of TS running when you start the game, why not write a DOS script which will start ArmA and then after a suitable delay start TS?
Dudester 0 Posted July 6, 2007 Your sound card might be on its way out, try onboard sound, or lend on of someone you know to try it.
H00t74 0 Posted July 7, 2007 Have you tried TS without running ARA to see if it runs OK? That will eliminate if it is a conflict of programs or not
