morthawt 0 Posted June 26, 2007 Im in desperate need of a new graphics card due to visual lag, and was wondering how this one would perform 256MB XFX 7950GT, PCI-E(x16), Mem 1460MHz, GPU 570MHz, 24 Pipes, 2 x Dual Link DVI-I/HDTV Would this allow me to run with settings on very high and long distance? Im running XP x32 and x64, Athlon X2 4400+ 2GB ram Thanks

hedcrusha 0 Posted June 26, 2007 Here dude check this out! Not bad prices as there pretty much the same as that 7950gt http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=545087
Jack-UK 0 Posted June 26, 2007 I'd say that the 7950GT is the best card for ArmA at the mo, the 8800s are pretty crappy due to the drivers and compatibility with ArmA... If you could get the 512mb version it would also help, but if u cant stretch from 256mb then it should still be a great card, but the higher the VRAM the better as u'll get less graphical glitches and be able to turn up the texture detail settings. You should be able to run it all on high with ~3k VD i think ive seen people playing it at... around 30FPS stable.
RMK 0 Posted June 26, 2007 Tends to struggle a bit on high in the north of the island, but id imagine any machine would with shadows and AA on too On high with 1600 view distance, does the job 7950GT 512mb
hedcrusha 0 Posted June 26, 2007 well Jack-UK do YOU have an 8800 series card? I do got the 8800gt xxx edition and i tell you their not crappy at all! Everything on very high settings no performance loss anywhere and max view distance.
Beagle 684 Posted June 27, 2007 I would stay with the 7xxx series for a while, especially with XP as OS. You will get the 7950GT high performance card to the price less then a middle class 8600 card and miss nothing on features. I stopped chasing the newest stuff and newest games a few years ago, and I feel better that way... Last years hardware is always good enough for last years software...until ist is patched up. I never considered playing ArmA before 1.08 By then the hardware it was coded for ist cheap.
