Recommended Posts

So, i have finally got an External HD, installed ARMA without any problems but when it comes to patching (as with many games) the patch cannot find the game?

how do i define to a patch where to look for the game?

The registry entries point to the game.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA

In there, a string called "MAIN" with the directory as value and also your hashed CDkey which will need to be present and valid for patching.

haha it certainly was.. its working now,.. BUT now i needed to set up virtual memory 3Gb in order to run it from the external HD (for some reason) and now Shutting down take forever.. why when i ran ARMA from my intenal Hard drive, i didnt need to use virtual mem but now on the external HD i do?

With external you mean an USB HDD right?

If yes never install any games on it cause they are to slow for it. I use my ext. HDD only for MP3 and such things and the internal drives for games, windows n stuff.

im sure it depends on many factors, ive read in many cases that an External HD is no slower then an internal HD, besides mines a 4000 rpm connected to a "permanent slot" USB 2.0, ive played Company of heroes on it and its fine, sure loading times are a tiny bit slower but im willing to put up with that, so other than that no problems and that doesnt need a CD to run either.
