I have one... and need some help.

Click on Arma_Server.exe (or via a shortcut with the parameters -netlog -config=server.cfg) and the server doesn't start... it shows in the processes but the server is not actually running. It ran fine under all other versions.

I have re-installed multiple times.

It doesn't even do the on-screen loading and gives no errors. I have no method to troubleshoot since there are no logs being generated.

We run Windows 2003 on a Dual Xeon.

Anyone? Ideas?

BigQEd,

I thought you guys use FireDaemon?

I've yet to put ArmA on our dedi with 1.08, but it seems to have no problems on Vista64 running as a service thru FD Trinity. I've tested a couple 24hr runs of evolution and revolution.

I have not tested -netlog since I'm keeping the server locked while testing.

I also have a problem with 1.08 dedi server. I click on the arma_server.exe and the process shows up for 2 seconds, then disappears. The 1.05 dedi server will fire right up and run. I thought it was my server box. I went as far as to back up my data, format, reinstall XP pro and patch it all up. First thing installed then was the ArmA server. Same deal, flashes and closes. No error messages given. No entries in the systems Event Viewer. No logs created (that i could find).

This was using the full 1.08 dedicated server download. So then i tried launching the dedi server on my patched up gaming pc. It started right up as it should. So I copied my ArmA root directory from my gaming pc to the server pc. Same result, wont start. Im baffled. Clearly there is something not right with this server app release. Id been running a 1.05 server 24/7 for months. The 1.08 should run fine. Server box specs listed below.

---

P4 - 3Ghz cpu

1.5GB pc2700 DDR mem

80GB HD

Windows XP Pro 32bit w/SP2 and all patches

We have used FireDaemon. However, not with 1.08... have to get the game to run first. wink_o.gif

The process does start but nothing shows on the desktop (the little dedicated interface that displays the server info... nor the little startup check marks). I am baffled as there is no feedback to tell me what is going on.

BIS? Help? :P

I guess not many people are having a problem with the 1.08 dedi server. I just find it so strange that with a clean install of Windows and freshly downloaded server, that it still wont work on one pc but works on my other fine.

Does anyone have any ideas or tricks I could try? Im desperate to get my server back up!! confused_o.gif

Yeah, FragHaus has no official server at the moment. No word from BIS and no one really responding about this issue.

I know the feeling...

However i patched my gamecomputer and uploaded the 1.08 files to the server.

It reboot with no reasons sometimes after a long period, sometimes after a short...

Then i not only uploaded the 1.08 files but also all my dirs,it took some time especially the addons dir...

When finished i tried the server and found that is was responding 10 times quicker to servercommands like login and lock etc....

Furthermore it didnt crash anymore for the last 2 days...

Hope it stays that way...

Fact is that in my opinion 1.08 dedicated server file isnt as stabil as the previous release...

On the other hand 1.08 solved the dissapearing problem in the gamelist...

Fingers crossed and hope it stays satbil...

I would say upload the complete arma dir including every file,it takes some time but hey better try somthing than do nothing .... smile_o.gif

Ah, sorry. Specs listed below:

WinXP Pro SP2w/all patches (clean install)

P4 - 3Ghz cpu

1.5GB DDR 2700 mem

Vid card should not matter since the pc is only used for game servers, which are mostly command line based.

Currently no anti-virus installed. I wanted to try the ArmA server before anything else was put back on.

Specs as requested:

Windows Server 2003 SP2

2.8 Dual Xeon CPUs

2 GB Ram

150 GB Seagate SCSI Drives

All this system does is ArmA... doesnt even run a Web or FTP. Dedicated solely for ArmA and ArmA isnt running... O.o

Like I said, arma_server.exe shows up in the processes... but the server isnt running and no graphical startup is seen.

I did a fresh re-install patching 1.01 --> 1.05 --> 1.08. Twice.

P.S. BTW, the Full Dedicated Server download is unavailable... there needs to be another download mirror or something.

I just wish BIS or someone who knows something would come out and say "yes this is a known issue with the server application happening on some pc's and we're working on it". That would make my day. whistle.gif

Ok, maybe I've got the ball rolling some. I right clicked on the arma_server.exe icon and there was the choice called "analysis". I chose it and it created a report file on the root of C. After it finishes creating this report it says to send it to support@securom.com. So i sent it off. I got a reply back saying,

Quote[/b] ]Greetings.

Thank you for your email. I've checked your analysis file, but will need to consult our developers to offer a solution. I will return to you as soon as I can.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience.

I'll post back as soon as I hear their reply. It seems just like the "1.08 patch will not boot" thread, this is also a securom caused problem. Not a BIS issue.

It's been a week... and no response from BIS on this matter.

There IS a problem with some servers that cause the Arma_server.exe not to work. I see 2 of them are Windows 2003 servers.

A response from BIS would be nice...

FIXED!!!

Securom support sent me a new arma_server.exe this morning. It started my server right up!

I put it on my file server just in case they haven't posted it yet. Thank you Securom for working out this issue. thumbs-up.gif

FIXED ArmA_Server.exe
