New projects

Hi I've been playing this game for a while and just bought the GOLD Upgrade, really cool.

In OFP Network is saw a list of new theatres, Vietnam, Kosovo, Mars??? Are these real projects that are being developed using the game engine. I would really like to see the vietnam theater.

Vietnam, Kosovo etc.. are user made mods. At least they will be, there are currently only limited editing facilities available.

Currently you can do the following in OF:

- make missions

- take an existing 3dmodel (or an island) and change the textures

- change the configuration of an 'item' (eg change the behaviour of a certain weapon, etcc...)

To actually make mods people also require:

- Oxygen (BIS' proprietary tool to make 3dmodels and animation)

- Visitor (BIS' proprietary tool for making island geometry and placement of objects on the island)

It is already possible to download a jungle island :

go to the

http://www.ofpeditingcenter.com

and click to the "add-ons depot"

and download Ebud's excellent Jungle Island.

What about independence lost. I know there's not much information on this yet, and that it's not known whether it's intended to be a mod/addon or a new game, but it looks suspisciously like ofp. I think it is.

Does anyone know where to find out some more about this? I checked the official website, not much there at all, and the gamespot feature which shows some nice pics.

All I know is that it'll be out this summer and it includes the biggest helicopter in the western army to date: The CH-53 Sea Stallion. it can caryy 55 passengers!

While the Resistance expansion seems to be a 1985-based one, Independence Lost seems to be based in 2002 - read the fake newspaper on the site. Guessing from that its probably a seperate game based around OFP's engine.
