morbid 0 Posted February 15, 2002 lol - Startrek is nothing like starwars, and it's been around for far longer than stargate.

Even if they have phasers that are similar to the beam cannons on freespace 2. usually its a struggle against the gravitational pull of some nebula or intergalatic time warp or whatever rather than a struggle against highly trained, numerically superior enemy race packing some scary looking ship equipped with super weapons of mass destruction. and star gates cool cos its special forces against superior, advanced alien races. usually star trek is just some rant about ejecting warp cores to destroy a large mass of gases that are taking over the ships computers or something

And how can you like Stargate...it has McGuyver in it for the love of god! But granted usually the battles in ST suck. Enterprise has had a few good (and funny) ones. I haven't watched enterprise yet though, looks really really cheesy and the new captain looks like a third rate actor. I saw some 15 minutes of one episode, it ends in this guy getting impregnated by some alien women. But thats it. no battles

Akira 0 Posted February 15, 2002 Yes...there is more to flyin' around in space then gettin' into big battles every episode. Rumor is though that Enterprise might have something or deal with a war between the Romulans and Feds.... Or its wishful thinking. THey should take a que from DS9...the show stopped sucking...when the Dominion War broke out...

Sci-Fi isn't only warfare, there are also "man vs. machine" battles as well. -=Die Alive=-<span id='postcolor'> True, its just i'd rather have a 5 long series of episodes where its like that thing where the dominion attack deep space one, rather than one episode with a minor battle or two, then 6 episodes about tuvok getting stroppy about some new officer or something. Its like stargate where they've been fighting the gouould (however thats spelt) all through the season, but they keep coming back, yet they still have problems with other civs, with some episodes dedicated to them doing a mission to negotiate with another civ for weapons to fight the gouould or something, with the odd virus coming through the stargate here and there. theres one major major baddie in stargate, theres shitloads in star trek, so why do we get episodes about a boring ass space shuttle race? stargate is good cos theres always a source of action, while star trek is loads of social events and problems interspersed with action. it may as well be eastenders space audition. Akira 0 Posted February 15, 2002 Enterprise is really getting better because it is starting to do that as well. Plus they are doing something that no other Star Trek (other than the Dominion War....but even more so then that)has done....they have a centralized crisis/storyline with interspersed other stories as well. Plus they actuall made an episode about the effects of something that happened in another episode....in other words they are doing less Trek -like "single weekly episodes" and going more to an ongoing story.... I like it...

Rogue2020 0 Posted February 15, 2002 Star trek is about peace....a better world.....they would never fight at all if they didn't have to.... Anyway bridge commander is awesome....the only thing that annoys me at times is the views....you can move the outside view around but only if you are not targeting something.... Notice that the Federation was born during that war (as mentioned by Kirk in this episode where they meet a cloaking warbird) and that this war was very costly and that Earth almost lost!!! Guest Posted February 15, 2002 Enterprise has gone back to the roots of star trek, going around killin aliens and getting the green coloured bird , the original star tek was good cause it was fun to watch a little cheesy but fun and they was always fighting those damned Klingons, now its all about moral issues and crap, the only bit of the STng was the battles with the borg. Akira 0 Posted February 15, 2002 Thats why they are talking about Enterprise possibly picking it up....because it happens about this time. Course I guess they can't deal with the General War, since we ain't meet the Tholians, Hydrans, Gorn, Kzinti, or Lyrans yet....but thats suppose to be a little ways away anyway... And what do the Tholians and Gorn have to do with that? The Tholians and Gord were discovered by Kirk, 100 years later!!!<span id='postcolor'> Actually no. If you watch those shows again its made clear that Kirk is NOT the first one to meet either of them. The "General War" was a big war, partly started by the Fed-Rom conflict, in which everyone was basically fighting everyone. Tholians were pretty much neutral...they blew anyone up that came near them, then they finally joined on the Fed side. Hydrans were with the Feds, as were the Lyrans. Lyrans almost got wiped out (genocide style) by the Klingons and the Kzinti. Romulans and Klingons were allies in this war. Gorn were on Fed side. It basically decimated every culture and empire....Romulans the worst. This also is referenced by Kirk a few times when close to fighting the Klingons in a few episodes....usually like "Surely they won't risk another General War." *with Kirk voice*
